Did you know clogging is a form of dance that is still practiced and performed? It is! We know, how cool?
In this video, a dance troupe from Starz Unlimited Dance Studio in Salt Lake City, Utah, performs a clogging routine on the Nationals stage in Baton Rouge.
We bet this performance is unlike anything you’ve ever seen, well, unless you’ve seen clogging!
Before the girls start dancing, the crowd is already hooting and hollering for them. Everyone is excited and hyped up for the performance!
This is unlike many other forms of dance, such as ballet, where the audience is silent, admiring the mindful movement of the dancers, and only applauding at the end of the dance.
Whereas clogging seems to feed off the audience’s energy, you can feel this while watching this video!
This particular number consists of eight pairs, and although there are sixteen people on stage, they are so in sync, the sound is incredible.
We can only imagine how it would sound and feel watching this in person!
Clogging is often confused by tap dancing as both are percussive dance forms and utilize specific hard-bottom shoes to elicit sound.
Other people declare their biases based on their heritage or where they live, but it is all in good fun at the end of the day!
For many, dance is a way to connect with others, not just people like them, but also from other cultures and backgrounds.
The girls in the clogging nationals video are astounding to watch, and it is so clear how much work and practice they have put into learning the art of clogging.
And they show they aren’t just frilly and sparkly outfits; there is power behind every step!
At the end of their performance, you can hear how proud and astounded the audience is, and although they are facing away from the camera, you can feel the smiles radiating off these dancers.
