Ever since American Idol debuted, there has been no shortage of reality television competition shows.
In that original show, contestants would come out onstage and sing before the judges (and before all of America). Still, of all the shows like it out there, Idol is probably the most straightforward. There are plenty of other shows that are a little more interesting or inventive by switching up some of the rules.
One of those shows is The Voice. Although we may be used to the American version of that one as well, the truth is it’s an international franchise.
And it has many different versions of itself from all around the world.
The performance we’re talking about today comes all the way from Russia.
As on any version of The Voice, the show begins by having a contestant come out onstage before a panel of judges who have their backs turned.
After that, the performer starts to sing as best as they can. If the judges like what they hear, they can hit their buzzers to turn around and see who it is. Beyond that, they also compete for the singer to join their team—after all, the judges also compete with one another to win the show overall!
The contestant in this audition was named Daneliya Tulyeshova.
After a brief introduction, Tulyeshova walks out onstage and her backing music starts to play.
The song she has chosen to sing is “Stone Cold” by Demi Lovato, a passionate and heartfelt ballad.
From the very first notes, the judges know they’re listening to something truly special. Her voice is so raw and so precise at the same time. After just a second, Tulyeshova she gets her first buzzer. A second or two later, she gets another and another!
Before long, she has all the judges turned around in their chairs!
Although the performance has been incredible so far, it only gets better as it goes on.
About halfway through, Tulyeshova hits a high vocal run that seems so impossible for someone her age—after all, she’s only 10 years old!
Even though the song has mature subject matter and requires a mature voice to sing as well, Tulyeshova sails through all the noes with ease and makes it sound like she was the only one in the world meant to sing it.
When it’s all over, the judges and the audience give her a huge standing ovation!
Ever since this clip has been loaded online, it has earned more than 45 million views worldwide!
After watching Tulyeshova perform, it’s easy to see how she’s gotten so much traction! Because The Voice’s format allows for so many surprises and so many flexibilities within the rules, Tulyeshova was a perfect fit for the show. Even though she was so young, her voice is so powerful and so confident already.
As we’ve always said, the best thing about The Voice is that it doesn’t discriminate between different ages of people and virtually anyone can perform—they just have to wow the crowd. Though it goes without saying, Tulyeshova definitely did that!
