One of the first things we teach our kids is how to protect themselves.
Are you familiar with the phrase โdonโt talk to strangers?โ Well, this is one of the first lessons that we get from our parents. No matter what, if you donโt know the person, never stop to answer questions or even start a conversation with them.
Our world is a scary place.
As a parent, our childโs safety is our priority. Each day that we send them off to school, we hope and pray that they will be okay. We always remind them about being alert and how they would be able to ask for help in case of emergencies.
In the event a child is faced with an unfavorable situation, it is a must for them to know how to protect themselves. They should know their emergency contacts, have their own rescue whistles, pepper sprays, and so on.
Itโs also important to have a clear mind and be alert at all times.
Despite warnings and safety measures, kids and young adults belong to the highest rates of victims of crimes such as sexual abuse, abduction, and even murder.
โGlobally, it is estimated that up to 1 billion children aged 2โ17 years, have experienced physical, sexual, or emotional violence or neglect in the past year,โ WHO posted last 2020.
This is a global issue, and itโs more common than we think. As of now, there are many plans on how each country can do its share of protecting its people, especially children, from experiencing such situations.
A video that was posted on YouTube went viral because of a smart young girl who was faced with a scary situation.
The video shows CCTV footage thatโs chilling, to say the least!
It shows a 9-year-old girl walking home from school, and then we notice a very suspicious man who was obviously following her.
As the little girl headed back to her home in Stupino, Moscow, we see the creeper slow down while looking at the child.
She knew she was being followed, but she remained calm.
The little girl didnโt even show any signs of panic. She went inside the apartment building as usual, but she already had a plan.
The stalker, however, quickly entered the building as soon as she did. The little girl climbed the staircase and, as you can see in the video, she doesnโt even look like sheโs scared or concerned in any way.
What a brave young child!
As she proceeds to where the elevators are, she suddenly changes directions and hides behind the letterbox. The stalker proceeds to the elevators, waiting for the child and his chance to do whatever he has planned.
The girl sneaks past her stalker and climbs down the stairs again. She goes out of the apartment building and then we see the stranger going out of the building as well.
Finally, he realized that his target has outsmarted him.
Just then, as he comes out of the building, we see the little girl crossing paths with him, but this time, she was with her father.
We see them entering the building and climbing the stairs, and the little girl seemed to be explaining to her father what had happened.
According to the video details:
โOfficers detained the man, reportedly a registered patient with mental health issues. The police wonโt launch a criminal case, though, with the girlโs parents informed that โthere has been no crime committed.โ
Like many of the comments point out, itโs just sad that because there was โno crime committed,โ this man wasnโt charged with anything, despite the hard evidence.
Can you imagine how terrified this young girl was? Why should she or her parents have to wait until something bad happens to her?
As scary as this video is, it is also overwhelming. This little girl remained calm and composed, even when she was faced with grave danger.
Because of that, she was able to outwit her stalker.
It was a close call, and it was scary. No parent or child would wish to be faced with such a scary situation. Thatโs why itโs a must for all of us to know how to protect ourselves. Great job, little girl!
