Buying a new house definitely comes with some fuss- boxes all over the place, trying to think where everything would fit best, choosing rooms, decorating, and so on.
But it also comes with excitement.
New home, new experiences, new environment, and the feelings of exploration are on.
New homes sometimes come with surprises.
It can be anything- from an object forgotten by the previous owner to a whole secret room.
And if finding a hidden door leading to a secret room sounds creepy to you, then rest assured that secret rooms donโt always come out of horror movies.
They can reveal secret gems instead.
Like the Gilles family.
They just moved into their new Virginia home a while ago.
Levi and Kelsey Gilles and their 15-year-old daughter, Ada, had just moved into their new home near Harrisonburg.
They were in the process of choosing rooms and trying to put the stuff they had brought with them in place.
Ada had chosen one of the nicest rooms that also featured a recessed bookcase. It looked super cute, and Ada couldnโt wait to decorate it.
As she was exploring her new room, the high-school girl noticed something that didnโt look right. At the bottom of the bookcase, there was a latch.
โOn the side [of the bookcase], we noticed a little bit of a seam, where thereโs kind of a gap,โ Levi Gilles told Inside Edition.
After the Gilles popped the latch open, they tried to find out how the bookcase worked and what the gap was all about.
It took them some moments until they realized they had to slide the โdoorโ aka bookcase out in order to reveal the secret.
It was a room!
The room that was hiding behind the camouflaged door was fully insulated and it even featured a working light.
As if this wasnโt enough of a surprise, the family noticed something on the floor.
It was a drawer.
Without thinking twice, they opened it and saw a little box inside.
They had no idea what it could contain, but they were too curious to pretend they hadnโt seen it. They had to know what was inside.
The box, which had an Olympic sign on it, contained rare coins.
The family was shocked to see them.
The Gilles knew that they couldnโt keep the coins, and they decided to contact the previous owner and return them.
Indeed, sometime later, the family returned the hidden gems to their rightful owner.
But this doesnโt mean that they will stop looking for other treasures around the house.
This house certainly has serious potential!
Once the story became public and was uploaded on YouTube, it immediately became viral with more than 1m views within the first few days. And this definitely doesnโt come as a surprise.
