The internet has introduced us to a plethora of talent from people of all ages. What’s even more impressive is how the younger generation eagerly utilizes social media to showcase unbelievable talent. We’re not just referring to teenagers, either. Kids as young as four have song and dance performances uploaded to YouTube channels – performances that involve large audiences, a well-lit stage, costumes, and choreography. Basically, these kids aren’t afraid to show the world what they’ve got.
If grown-ups occasionally (or often) hesitate to share content for fear of being judged or criticized, kids are the total opposite.
In fact, it’s their unwavering confidence that continues to inspire many others to follow suit. Take Lynzee Ensell.
The eight-year-old dancer knows no stage fright.
She always takes to the stage with her head held high.
You can see this in her performance at the Showstopper Pittsburg 2020 competition.
She starts off in a kneeling position on stage. When “You Raise Me Up” by Connie Talbot begins to play, Lynzee slowly lifts her gaze towards the heavens, as if in prayer.
With so many covers of the moving track, it was this particular version that went perfectly with Lynzee’s dance routine.
The young dancer, trained in acro dancing, placed 2nd overall in the Mini Acro Solo category. To give you a little background on acro dance, here’s how The Progressive Dance Studio explains it:
“Acro dance combines classical dance techniques with fluid and lyrical acrobatic movements. The dance movements in Acro originate in ballet, jazz, modern and lyrical dance styles.”
As the touching lyrics and the slow melody of the track fill the room, Lynzee slowly and gracefully transitioned from one acrobatic move to another. It was breathtaking to watch the young contortionist in action. Her movements amplified both the lyrics and acrobatic techniques equal measure.
“You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas…”
It was in this part of the song during the performance that left everyone stunned.
Some kids are born to dance. But not all have the courage to get up on stage, perform, and compete. Lynzee not only possesses evident star quality. She commands the attention of the room without even trying. The show stopper was calm, composed, and right in her element as she showcased acrobatic dance steps in time with the rhythm of the song.
That’s why it comes as no surprise that she placed 2nd Overall in her division. While it is not uncommon for eight-year-olds to have incredible talent, there’s no denying that this young lady has what it takes to make jaws drop. The seemingly effortless way in which the young girl dances and the charming way she carries herself already makes her a star.
More than the flawless execution of steps, the performance was also very telling of just how hardworking she is and how much effort and time she invested in learning and mastering the choreography.
Press play and watch Lynzee take the stage with her talent, grace, and poise.
