Kate McCafferty is only 8 years old, but she knows how to move like a pro. The young girl recently showed up to the Foleyside Shopping Centre in Derry, Northern Ireland. They all watched as the music came on, anxious to see if the girl would live up to the celeb’s reputation.
Of course, everyone instantly recognized the song. You would be hard-pressed to find a music lover – even a young one – who is not familiar with Michael Jackson.
Later revered as the “King of Pop,” this artist was famous even from his youth. The young boy found his way into the hearts of countless fans as a key member of the Jackson 5. He went on to become a best-selling songwriter, singer, and dancer. His music has stayed in our hearts, but Jackson’s real claim to fame were his legendary dance moves.
The performer had several iconic dance moves that would attract the admiration of fans everywhere. From the moonwalk to his famous slides and glides, this entertainer sure knew how to put on a show. His “Thriller” dance is among the many Michael Jackson moments that will never be forgotten.
When Kate took center stage in the shopping centre, spectators seemed to wonder whether this girl could really capture the pop icon’s essence. But as soon as she started dancing, the entire crowd began to cheer.

Kate grooved to a stellar mashup of all the best jams, from “Bad” to “Smooth Criminal.” This young dancer was CONFIDENT, and for good reason – she was extremely talented. Within less than a minute she had the crowd fully engaged; they were clapping, cheering, and watching her every move.
Kate is a part of a music group taught by the choreographers of Pineapple Dance Studios. Created by Debbie Moore, the studios were designed “to make dance accessible to everyone, where absolute beginners could mix with professional dancers and celebrities including Madonna and 1D.” Judging by her incredible work with young stars like Kate, I’d say Debbie’s mission is a success.
This little dancer grooved effortlessly through the transitions of the multiple songs without missing a beat. She looked like she was born to be on stage – and she was having the time of her life. By the end of the song, no one could bring themselves to look away.
The music stopped, and right on cue Kate struck a pose. The young dancer removed her hat and paused while her adoring fans enthusiastically showed their appreciation.
Talented girls like Kate prove to the world that the only limitations we face are in our minds. Her unwavering confidence serves as an inspiration to us all.
