There are many skin markings that individuals can be born with that are classed as birthmarks. Some are not as visible as others.

When Marika was born, they noticed that she was covered in spots. Not just a few but so many that it covered about 60% of her skin.
No Abnormalities
Marika went through tests like ultrasounds that did not show that there were any abnormalities.
A Diagnosis
Finally, a diagnosis was made called Congenital Nevus. This is a specific type of birthmark that is considered to be rare, as only one in 500,000 are born with this condition.
The Risks
This condition may not just stop at skin demarcation. It puts those who have it at higher risk for cancer. This meant as a baby, she had to have seven skin removals.
Dealing With This Condition
Marika has had to live with this condition her entire life.
With the marks being so visible, it was difficult for her to conceal them, and when in middle school, she became the brunt of a great deal of bullying.
The Cruelty Of Others
Classmates can be cruel, which Marika can testify to. Some of the students would taunt her and call her a cow. Others would say that she was splattered with mud.
It wasn’t just verbal abuse, either. Some of the other girls would physically assault her.
The Damage
Parents Felt Helpless
Marika’s parents felt helpless. Knowing that she was being bullied but could do nothing about it.
Marika Is A Single Mom
When she was carrying her son, she was worried that she would pass her condition onto him, even though she was assured that she could not. The first thing she did when he was born was check him all over.
A Passion Develops
Marika loved being in front of the camera. Now at the age of twenty-one, she has become a mother and life has taken on a whole new meaning for her.
A New Beauty Standard
Marika has become a successful model. She believes that her condition has helped to set a new beauty standard.
The Beginning of Her Career
Marika is just at the beginning of her career. She has not had any major photography contracts yet. She works mostly with local photographers. She is very proud of her accomplishments to date.
Beauty Means Diversity
Marika has a wonderful and factual definition of beauty, as to her beauty means diversity. Beauty doesn’t come in one size, one color or one shape, according to her.
An Inspiration
Marika is an inspiration to many. She has proven that when life hands you a rough deal with persistence, it can be overcome. She is also setting a new standard for models, which should be an inspiration to others who feel that because of some affliction they are not good enough.
