German shepherd can’t contain joy when he spots dad
I couldn't stop watching this dog's adorable reaction!

There is nothing quite as strong as the bond between a human and their dog.

Dogs are one of the few animals that will love you unconditionally.

Some people claim that their cats or birds or snakes love them the same way but I don’t buy it.

A cat will stop coming around the second you annoy it, a bird is locked in a cage so it has no choice but to stay, and a snake is just waiting until it grows big enough to eat you.

But a dog–a dog is with you through thick and thin, no matter what.

They long to spend every second of every day with you.

So when you have to be apart, it can be hard on the dog.

And that was exactly the case for one owner and his German Shepherd.

Which, by the way, is known to be one of the most loyal dog breeds out there.

Anything German Shepherd tells us that, “When you ask people which dog breed is the most loyal, they probably include German Shepherds on their list.”

When this particular German Shepherd had to be away from her owner for a few months, it must have been hard.

I say that not only because I know how much these dogs love their owners, but because of the reaction that the dog had when her owner did finally show up.

She is already excited as a woman she knows opens up the door after apparently being gone for a little while.

She greets her with lots of tail wagging and plenty of wiggles.

Her owner is standing just around the corner and it’s not until he calls out her name that she realizes that he’s there.

But the second that she does, she lets out a bark of relief and rushes over to greet him.

She is unable to control her excitement as she spins around in circles and cries and jumps and licks.

This continues for over a minute and you start to think that she may never get enough of this moment.

It’s as if she thinks that if she stops rubbing and licking him then he’ll disappear again–like she’ll wake up and it will all just be a dream.

Seeing videos like this make you miss your own dog.

I haven’t had a dog since I was a kid.

I got her when I was 10 and she died when I was 25.

When I would come home from college on my winter and summer breaks, she would greet me with the same enthusiasm as the German Shepherd from the video.

If you’re lucky enough to still have your dog with you, then go get it before you watch this video.

I guarantee it’s going to make you want to cuddle up to your fluffy friend and squeeze them tight.

Having a dog is so much more than just having a friend to do stuff with.

It’s actually good for your health, too.

According to the American Kennel Club, “The bond between humans and dogs reduces stress, which is a major cause of cardiovascular problems.”

So next time you see your dog, make sure you give them a treat and thank them for increasing your life span.

And make sure you give them just as much love as they give to you.
