Pregnancy is always an exciting time, but with doctor appointments, nursery prepping, and name-picking, a mother-to-be often doesnโt even have time to even take a breath, never mind relax. Despite the workload that is inherent in preparing for a child, there is always one part that is much more exciting than the rest: discovering the gender.
Although most parents generally choose to know the gender in advance, sometimes announcing it during an epic reveal party, Theresa Slater, a soon-to-be new mom, decided to do things differently.
Although most parents would bust from holding in the big news, Theresa and her husband decided to keep the gender a secret until the day of the birth, even going so far as to keep the nursery locked so relatives couldnโt steal a sneak peek at the colored items within.
On the day of the birth, anxious relatives gather behind Theresaโs hospital room curtain, taking bets on the gender of the familyโs new baby. Nearby, a camera is rolling, ready to capture their reactions to the surprise.
With 3 family members guessing that the baby was a boy and only one guessing that it was a girl, the blue blankets likely werenโt a surprise. But as the family comes closer, theyโre in for quite a shock.
Thereโs not just one baby in the bassinet- there are two!
As the family members get close enough to see the two boysโ tiny heads, their jaws DROP.
The female relative on the left is in disbelief. โWhat!?โ she exclaims, dropping her purse to the ground. The three male relatives, for their part, look over the moon to have two new, little guys in the family, an air of male pride evident in their expressions.
The ten-minute video continues, showing the reactions of each new batch of relatives as they come to meet the โbabyโ for the very first time.
They even FaceTime with long-distance relatives who arenโt able to be there.
But as the parade of family members continues, each one looks more surprised than the last.
Although the bets had been on regarding the babyโs gender, Theresa tells Newsner, โNo one ever asked me if I was having twins.โ
Regardless of the gender, it looks like these 2 bundles of joy were well worth the wait!
