Some of us might believe that it’s very rare to see acts of kindness from people. But the truth is it does happen every day. It’s just that we also don’t usually notice the little acts of kindness that some people do.
Thankfully, Nkosikho Mbele’s kindness did not go unnoticed.
He is a gas attendant in South Africa who was just doing his job. But when one of the customers needed help, he didn’t hesitate to extend a helping hand.
The person he helped is Monet van Deventer of Cape Town, South Africa. Monet visited the gas station to refuel but she had a problem.
She realized that she forgot her cards and cash at home.
But she still tried to find it in the car. While she was trying to look for it, Nkosikho began cleaning the windows of her car. So she immediately informed him about her situation.
After she told him, Nkosikho said something that Monet didn’t expect.
“Ma’am you can’t run out of petrol on the N2. I’ll throw in R100 and then you can just bring back my R100 whenever you are near again.”
This is what he exactly said to Monet. Turns out he was not joking about it.
He really paid for it with his own money. Considering his salary per week, R100 or $7 is already a huge amount. Apart from that, there was no assurance that he would get it back. But because of his kindness, he didn’t mind that. All he wanted was to help.
That was the reason why Monet decided to post that touching story on her Facebook account.
Her post has gone viral with over 50,000 shares and 138,000 likes. For sure many people got moved by Nkosikho’s kind gesture.
Lots of people also expressed their appreciation to Nkosikho. Many of them have left kind words for him.
“God just saw his kind heart and used Monet for his breakthrough. God uses His own way to bless people. May the Almighty God continue blessing the two of you,” one commenter wrote.
There’s also a commenter who talked about kindness and what he said is powerful.
“Kindness is wonderful wish there was more of it in this unpredictable world of ours. Well done young man God bless you.”
Monet also did something big for Nkosikho.
Aside from posting their story on Facebook, she also put up a fundraising post for him.
And because what he did has reached thousands of people around the globe, it didn’t take long for him to receive donations from people who want to help him. If you’re interested in how much they were able to raise for him, you can check it out here.
One word to describe it is huge. It’s just proof that many people appreciated Nkosikho’s kindness.
The company where he had been working – which is Shell also promised to donate $35,000 to a local charity of his choice and that is really great!
Oh, how powerful kindness is!
Kindness is truly life-changing. It’s great that a person like Nkosikho exists and this world. Hopefully, we are all willing to spread kindness in our own little ways.
And of course, let’s always be appreciative like Monet and never even underestimate every single act of kindness.
