His parents had no idea who left the gift behind for their son until they replayed their doorbell camera footage, doing a double take when the garbage truck pulled up to their house.

Secret Santa gifts are always fun to receive. When you open the gift part of the joy is to try and figure out who gifted it to you. Sometimes this guessing game is easier than others. When two-year-old Aiden received a Secret Santa gift on the porch, it was nearly impossible to find out who the secret Santa was. Thankfully, their front porch Ring camera caught it all on tape!

“They didn’t knock on the door, or come give it to us personally, so Saul said, ‘Let me check the ring doorbell camera,’ and when he checked it, he had to watch it twice. He was just in shock and awe of who it came from,” Rachel Murray, Aiden’s mom, said.

It is important to know that two-year-old Aiden is passionate about all trucks. He can tell the difference between all types of trucks. So, Tuesday and Friday’s are Aiden’s favorite mornings. Tuesday and Friday mornings are the days that the garbage truck drives by in the neighborhood of Quail Valley North, Missouri City.

Aiden’s father, Saul Luera, stated that, “…every morning on trash day he gets up and goes outside to see the garbage truck and waves at the garbage man. Every trash day without a miss.”

Aiden’s mother, Rachel Murray, explains that Aiden knows the sound of the garbage truck by now and hurries to go wave at the garbage man and see the truck honk. Aiden was even his garbage man for Halloween! He wore the neon vest and a beanie. The beanie was included in the costume because his garbage man wears one. To say that Aiden is a fan of his garbage man is an understatement. So, what happened next was even more amazing.

Christmas Eve was one of the few times that Aiden and his mother were not ready to go outside and wave at the garbage man. She explained that Aiden still pointed out the truck from inside the house though. Rachel thought that would be the end of their garbage truck experience that day, but she was wrong. Their garbage truck driver turned into Aiden’s Secret Santa.

The driver did not knock on their door but silently left an unsigned gift on their porch before leaving to finish his work. When Rachel opened the door and saw the unknown gift, she became very confused. So, Saul, Aiden’s father, went to check the Ring camera footage of their porch. That is when he saw that their garbage man was the Secret Santa for Aiden. He gifted him a garbage truck of his very own.

““It meant a lot, because who does that? Who just buys a kid that you see occasionally a gift for Christmas to kind of brighten his day and make his Christmas extra special this year?” Murray said.

Rachel Murray plans on gifting him cookies on his next shift, but she is going to have to wait a week because he is on vacation. The man’s name is Jose Pleites and when contacted about why he left the gift, it was a very easy answer for him.

“The boy and his mom are always there to greet me with a great smile every time I pick up their trash, and it gives me joy to know they are waiting for me to drive by. It is something I look forward to on my route,” Pleites said.

The homemade cookies will be a sweet way to end this surprising Christmas exchange! The full video of Aiden’s love for the garbage truck is right below if you would like to watch!
