We turn to our childhood photos whenever we feel like going down memory lane and thinking about the days when we were still cute, adorable kids who only cared about running and playing around until we run out of energy. Looking through these photos also remind us of how we were young once, with our youthful features and innocent views of how the world works.
Although most childhood pictures show cuter and tinier versions of ourselves, there are people whose photos from their younger years look exactly the opposite! Even at their tender ages at the time the photos were taken, they unusually look older by decades! If you’re curious to know what I’m talking about, read the list below and see for yourself.
1. This 7-year-old’s glam shot
Back then, sequined jackets are quite the thing. Even kids wear these “glam” clothes with matching shiny earrings whenever they want to take fabulous photos. Big hairstyles were also popular among the girls but it does not exactly give you a youthful glow, just like what it did to this girl who looked like she was 47 instead of just seven!
2. 6th grade or 60?
If anybody ever told me that the person in this photo is only in 6th grade, I would probably laugh at them for saying something so ridiculous. I mean, she looks much older than a pre-teen! It’s definitely her perm with her large square glasses!
3. This sassy little grandma
This pretty “grandma” wearing a fabulous blue jacket with blonde perm is quite a looker, don’t you think? She’s one sassy granny! But, would you believe me if I told you that this person is not really a grandma but a little girl who’s not even 10 years old? You better believe me because it’s the truth.
4. 40-year-old prom date
This woman could not forget how she looked when she attended her high school prom night. Why? Because she looked like she was 40 instead of just someone in her teens!
5. This 13-year-old who looked like she just retired
This girl just started her teens when this photo was taken. But, she totally looked like she just got out of retirement in this picture!
6. 55-year-old? No, just eleven.
It seems like short curly hair and huge -framed glasses were quite the thing in the early ’90s. This girl who’s only 11-years -old at the time looked like she was 5 times older because of her hair and spectacles! Even her earrings and necklace looked like they belong from some ancient period.
7. This middle-aged man in a child’s body
At a glace, you may initially think of this photo as that of a middle-aged man who’s heavy on the tummy area. But, if you look closely, you’ll realize that you are actually looking at a little boy!
8. This young girl who did not look young at all
Can you guess how young this little lady is? If not for her huge mullet hair and thick-framed glasses, this toddler would have looked like a tiny ray of sunshine, not a tiny senior citizen!
9. This first day of high school look
The first day of high school is always a momentous part of every teen’s life. It’s a day where kids usually go for the best look they can think of, trying to make an impression and to make new friends. Apparently, this guy decided to go with the 70-year-old man look for his first day in high school.
10. Tiny Mrs. Doubtfire
Robin Williams’ unforgettable movie Mrs. Doubtfire is a film where the actor disguised himself as an old lady to keep an eye on his own kids. Don’t you just find the movie character in this tiny girl’s photo? She’s like Mrs. Doubtfire’s tiny twin!
11. This 9th grader who looked like he’s decades older
Apparently, the curly hair plus large glasses style is not only applicable to girls back then. Even young men tried to copy the style, too! Of course, it’s not a great combination even for men and it can be seen in this 9th grader who totally looked like he was a much older man!
12. Can you guess her age?
If you guessed that she’s probably in her 40’s, then you are quite mistaken! She was in the second grade when this photo was taken which means that she’s only 7 years old at the time!
13. This girl who had to wear her Mom’s clothes
The girl in the photo belonged to a large family. As the eight in the family, she suspects that her mom only wanted her to wear old woman’s clothes because they were already too many! Looking at those glasses definitely reminds me of a strict headmistress somewhere.
14. Baby Elton John
Hey, it’s Elton John! But wait, how can he be the famous singer if he’s this tiny? As it turns out, the boy in this photo is only a toddler but because of her uncanny resemblance to Elton John while wearing his colored eye glasses, he looked like someone who’s in his 40s.
15. This 4-year-old’s glam shot
It’s kinda hard to imagine that this girl with the dark, mushroom hair and diamond earrings is actually just four years old when the photo was taken! She’s even wearing a shiny purple shawl which doesn’t make her look young at all.
16. This little lady with the parasol
Having a parasol made of lace is not exactly a thing of the current period. She looked like someone from a really long time ago because of it! And I cannot make anything out of her hairstyle, too. She has bangs, alright. But where’s the rest of her hair?
17. This boy with fancy hair
Apparently, this boy’s appearance is what makes people mistake him for a girl. And because of the way he styles himself back then, he ends up with quite the hairdo.
18. This geeky band member
This lady was once a geeky band member who wore her hair short and curly with matching old lady’s clothes and thick-framed glasses! Again, that’s not a really good combination if you want to look youthful.
19. This 50-year-old kid
Wait, what? Yes, she’s a kid but her hair and get-up makes her look like she just turned 50! Even her accessories look like they belonged to an old lady, not a 2nd grader!
20. First day at kindergarten looking like a parent
This kid’s smile is undoubtedly beautiful because she’s excited for her first day at kindergarten! However, her styling made her look like she’s part of the PTA, not the student body.
Browsing through childhood photos definitely makes it easier for all of us to reminisce better about the days when we were all still young and free. Most of the times, we feel nostalgic while going through them but there are also times that we laugh out loud as we go back to the days when these photos were taken. Just like when we all looked at these hilarious images we compiled.
You may look really different in your childhood photos, but what’s more important are the memories that these pictures represent. Most especially, we all know for a fact that the memories engraved in these images are all part of who we have become today.
