There’s never a shortage of hilarious answers on The Family Feud. After all, when you have to think quickly on your feet, sometimes things don’t always come out sounding right.
Steve Harvey can’t hold back hearing contestants’ unusual answers on the show (who can blame him?). He certainly won’t forget one man’s response to a question involving a “burglar.”
The Family Feud has been entertaining gameshow enthusiasts since 1976. It was originally hosted by Richard Dawson – who you might remember, seemed to enjoy kissing all the lovely female contestants.
Over the next decades, Family Feud changed its host every several years. Each one made his mark though, from Ray Combs, Louie Anderson, to Richard Karn from Home Improvement.
Then in 2010, the show took another funny turn when comedian Steve Harvey climbed aboard. He’s hosted “The Feud” ever since.
Did you know that Family Feud took home two Daytime Emmys in 2019? It was awarded the top prize in the categories of “Outstanding Directing for a Game Show” and “Outstanding Game Show.”
Steve Harvey sure knows how to crack an audience up. Between his humor and over-the-top facial expressions, it’s no wonder why he’s loved by Feud fans.
Surely Steve has to rely on his quick wit at different points of the program, but there are also contestants that make his job way too easy. Kind of like when Rod stepped up to the podium to face his opponent.
At this point in the segment, no one knows what the question is – so the two contestants have to battle it out to see who can answer the fastest. Whether that answer’s good or not, well, that’s to be determined.
Host Steve reads off the question from his cue card,
“Name something a burglar would not want to see when he breaks into a house.”
A lot of things could come to mind when you really think about it. Maybe the police, a dog, or even an alarm system.
But leave it to Rod, there was something apparently HE didn’t want to see. Quickly he hits the red buzzer and yells out an answer that left even Steve himself absolutely speechless.
Steve slams his cards down on the podium, saying “huh?” with a look of surprise. Did Rod really just say what I think he did?
While the host stands in a state of confusion, Rod turns to his family and mouths what seems like, “I don’t know why I,” and throws his hand up. When you have to answer that fast – maybe the mouth works faster than the brain.
But one of the most hysterical parts of the clip comes from the actual opponent himself. Although everyone else seemed to notice that Rod’s answer was pretty random – the guy seems to agree with it.
Looking very seriously at Rod he says,
“I don’t want to see that either.”
Everything about the scene has the room in a fit of laughter. The next question is – did his answer actually show up on the board?
Watch the video below to find out how Rod did with his answer. The clip’s so funny, it’s not surprising that it’s been viewed more than eight million times.
