Our world is not the same as it was in the 1950’s and the typical household has changed. People are on the move and looking for more out of life. We work so hard and on the weekends or those free days, we look for ways to play even harder. A lot of people aren’t looking to put down roots either. Having a house that moves with you is not a new idea, RV’s have been around for years, but the idea of the mobile home itself has changed.

We are living in the era of the tiny house and it’s something amazing.

The tiny house is usually oozing with charm, character and amazing storage style. Every corner, nook and cranny has its use and no space is wasted. The idea is this cuts back on what homeowners are spending on upkeep and overhead and also gives a freedom if desired to move from place to place. Websites like Airbnb and VRBO have been exploding with these alternative spaces. To make it even more amazing what if your home or get away spot was not only mobile on the road but the water as well?

One such space in Wakefield, Quebec exists and we have to say this takes tiny house living to a whole new level – tiny BOAT house living!

It’s called The River Den and this little space is built of 5 pontoon boats, totals 33 feet long, 11 feet wide and has a total of 23 feet of space for enjoyment. It also features space to relax and take in the views, entertain or just read a book both on the front of the main level and via a beautiful little deck off the upstairs bedroom.

The owner Bonnie’s family has lived and worked on the river for generations and she knew it was in her blood to do the same.

The home is very rustic but perfect for the nature lover’s escape. All the lights are 12 volts and run from a deep cycle battery that will last on average a month. This lighting style gives the boat effortless atmosphere and after sunset creates a warm inviting space.
