A lot of couples nowadays take their wedding reception to the next level. For example, there are videos all over the internet of people treating their guests to surprise “entertainment” that they weren’t expecting.
These clips are fun to watch, as you can see all the effort that went into making the event special. Usually, it’s the bride and groom who have the trick up their sleeve…
Get ready – you’ve been invited to Jerusha & Michael’s big day.
Many would agree that the reception is the best part about going to a wedding. Sure, the ceremony tends to be beautiful and heartfelt – but it’s during the afterparty that most of the fun happens.
One very common activity that takes place during a reception is the couple’s first dance. It’s an opportunity for everyone to “oooh” and “awww” over the Mr and Mrs (and maybe shed a tear or two, as well).
When Jerusha and Michael emerged onto the dancefloor it was a magical moment.
All the guests cheered seeing the newlyweds – who looked so stunning, they could sit on their cake themselves. Then the song “You & Me” by the Dave Matthews Band began to play.
Everyone watched as they slow-danced to the tune in the most romantic way. Jerusha even twirled around repeatedly looking like Cinderella on her wedding day.
But it was all about to change.
At one point, Michael dips his bride and goes in for a kiss…and that’s when the music comes to a screeching halt.
The pair try and play it off that they’re confused about the technical difficulties, yet, it’s obviously not the case. They were getting ready to kick things up a notch (literally)!
Michael’s thrown a straw cowboy hat from off stage. He then gives the DJ a cue to start the music again – only this time it’s far from the Dave Matthews Band.
It was the epic song, “Footloose,” by Kenny Loggins.
Jerusha had a little secret under her floor-length dress too. As she hiked it up, guests could see that she was wearing the proper footwear for the tune – cowboy boots!
The couple’s first dance transformed into an energetic performance that no one will ever forget.
They kicked their feet and shook their hips all over the dancefloor to “Footloose,” driving the crowd wild. Michael even threw in a little knee slide that would have made Kevin Bacon’s character, Ren, proud.
Some songs are hard to resist grooving along to, and this is definitely one of them.
Loggins co-wrote “Footloose” for the 1984 film, which was about a town that put a ban on dancing. But even if you aren’t a fan of the movie, likely you know the tune “Footloose!”
It’s no wonder why Jerusha and Michael picked it for their surprise wedding performance. Doesn’t it make you want to just “kick off the Sunday shoes?”
Another highlight in their dance was when Michael lifted his bride’s leg high into the air. He held it straight as if he were playing the guitar.
There’s no doubt Jerusha and Michael put a lot of time into their surprise “first dance,” which turned out to be a big hit! Since Blue Kite Cinema posted the video on YouTube, it’s been viewed more than 1.3 million times.
What a happy way to start a marriage! Press play on the video below to enjoy the surprise performance.
