People often dream of having fast cars or diamond jewelry, but the real treasures of this world are found in the people we love. For these four siblings, nothing meant more to them than finding a forever home.

The children had lived with their biological parents, but it was not a good situation. The kids were abused so badly that the state stepped in and separated them from their mother and father. They were entered into the foster system.

Finding a home for even a pair of siblings can be extremely difficult, and finding one where all four could stay together was an almost Herculean task. If the kids couldn’t find a place that would take them all in, they would have to be split up.

Just as these children were entered into the system, a couple named Eric and Phyllis Watson received their license to become foster parents. They were contacted about the four siblings, whose names were Alisia, Emma, Cody, and Bradley.

Eric and Phyllis were hesitant to take the children in. “They said, ‘We have a sibling set of four,’ and I’m like, ‘Four?! That’s a lot,’” Phyllis told the Western Journal.

The couple feared that they would be overwhelmed by the task. They each worked full-time jobs, and they thought they wouldn’t be able to give the kids the attention they would need. They were ready to decline the offer to become these four siblings’ foster parents.

Later that day, Eric took a nap that changed everything. During that time he thought about how he and his wife were these children’s last hope of staying together. It became clear to him what he had to do.

“When he woke up, he said, ‘We’re gonna take the kids,’” Phyllis recalled. She was by his side 100%.

“The turning point for me was they were going to be split up and I didn’t want to see that,” Eric said. The couple decided to give it a try, and the outcome was beyond their wildest dreams.

The original plan was for the Watsons to foster the siblings for a year while they reconciled with their biological parents. Over time, however, it became clear that this was not going to work. Plans changed, and the Watson family became even bigger.

Eric and Phyllis adopted all four children. The paperwork was finalized on March 12, 2018. These children had finally found a home, and they couldn’t have been happier.

The couple was thrilled to be able to expand their family. Before they took the path to becoming foster parents they had learned that they could not have a child the natural way. This knowledge drew them to the foster system, where they met kids who they loved with all their hearts.

“It’s not what I had planned, but it’s so much better,” Phyllis shared. “I love them like they are my own.”
