How many times have you looked at an outfit that could look great on you but hesitated to buy it because it might highlight the body parts you want to hide?
Styling a curvy body can be tricky but not impossible. There are features and rules we need to remember so that we can actually highlight the great parts of our body and transform the ones we want to hide.
Start by determing where the widest part of your body is

It could be the hips or the shoulders. What you need to do is match the width of the top with the bottom or vise versa. So if your hips are the widest part of your body, then it’s important to match the shoulder’s width to the hips. Or if your shoulders are the widest part, then you’ll match the hips’ width with it.
When you do that, your clothes will be in proportion to your body and your clothes will fit you better.
Plus you’ll look smaller overall.

Avoid clothing that has no shape
One of the techniques women usually do to hide their “flaws” is to just hide their bodies. Women dress in loose and maxi dresses and lose any type of shape.
This style of dressing up actually makes you look bigger than you actually look.

Wear a jumpsuit that defines the waist
A jumpsuit won’t just help you create that hourglass shape but it encourages you to “embrace the waist.” There are other things that are going great for this jumpsuit, too. The V-neck and lines in the middle that go down help elongate the body.
The volume and more space on the top and bottom make it more comfortable for you to wear the jumpsuit and embrace the waist. It perfectly creates that voluptuous hourglass body you’re creating.

Wear a blazer to create contrast
Adding a structured or tailored blazer with a loose shirt and pants will add the bulk you need for that hourglass shape. Swapping your sneakers with ankle boots can elevate this look from casual to chic.
And you know what else will transform your look? Ruched sleeves. Perfect.

Add a scarf with coordinating colors
Do you see what happened when they added a long, contrasting scarf down the center of her body? It elongated her body. Now the eyes are drawn to the length of the body, instead of the width.
It also helps to draw attention to the legs and boots, which are the highlights of this outfit. Plus the contrasting scarf also highlighted the different colors of her outfit.

Lengthen leg by tucking in shirt
Another way to lengthen the legs is to tuck in your shirt. When you tuck in your shirt, it automatically lengthens your pants. And if you add a long blazer, coat, or jacket, it’ll hide your tummy and add more length.
Wear boots to top off the look.

Wear a V-neck shirt
When you wear a V-neck shirt, it elongates your silhouette. Plus it gives you more breathing space on the top.
And when you want to feel more feminine, accessorize with a simple necklace that complements your whole look.

Don’t pull down your shirt to cover your entire backside
If you cover the entire backside, it automatically draws the eyes toward it. You’re basically saying “Hey everyone, look notice my backside.”
Keep eyes away from your wide backside by NOT covering everything with your shirt.

Tuck under shirt at halfway area of bottom
Instead, just pull down the back of your shirt to cover the top half of your backside. This makes your hips and backside smaller than it looks.
Placing your shirt on the halfway area will make you look like you have a voluptuous backside with long legs.

Don’t tuck shirt above your bottom
If you place it higher and on top of your backside, it makes your backside look bigger. Halfway will make your backside and waist look smaller.
So look for that right balance between the top of the pants or jeans and the bottom of your backside.

Choose a dress that creates shape and creates length
The top part matches the width of the hips below to create that hourglass shape. There is a belt on her waist to give her shape. Plus you have a v-neck plus a separation in the center.
Since there’s an opening in the center, it elongated her body and made it look smaller, too.

Add an undershirt to create proportion
If you’re wearing a sweater that’s almost the same color as your pants, it’s always best to have a lighter undershirt. Because we’re looking for an hourglass shape, having that undershirt will create good body proportions.
When you don’t have an undershirt, it’s going to make your backside stick out and look bigger in the process.

But don’t pull your undershirt down too far
Be careful that you don’t pull your undershirt too far down. It will make your hips and backside look wider and bigger.
And there’s just no proper body proportion.

Wear a V-neck dress
If you don’t have time to match your bottom with your top, try wearing a V-neck dress. Choose one that has an empire waistline so that it fans out before the hips and still creates that hourglass shape.
If you’re wearing a V-neck button-down dress, one thing you can do to avoid having a tight top or showing too much cleavage is to pin it. Secure the neckline with a pin at the middle of the top and bottom buttons.

Wear a slightly flared ankle length trouser
If you’re conscious of your wide feet, you can wear ankle-length trousers with a slight flare. The flare will match your wide hips and actually make your feet look smaller. It’s true! The ankle-length trousers work the same way as the tucked-in shirt technique.
The ends are not too high that it makes your foot look bigger and your legs shorter. They’re not too long that it just eats up your foot and make you look frumpy.

Wear a blazer to create an hourglass shape
Always wear a tailored blazer if you want to make sure that you have that hourglass shape. The seam is on top of the shoulders and creates that angle that makes you look slimmer.
Because it’s tailored, the blazer slims down by the waist and tapers off again by the hips. It creates the slimmer shape you want.

Wear a bright dress with confidence
Curvy bodies do not have to shy away from bright dresses. It’s all about confidence, baby! And when you wear a bright statement dress, the eyes are all on the dress and the confidence.
Eyes are not looking at the body shape at all. So when you wear a bright dress, wear it with so much confidence!

Wear mom jeans
Mom jeans are great because they fit well but they still give you the legroom to move around. And of course, keep it to ankle length, pair it with a tailored blazer, a tucked-in shirt, or an undershirt and you’re good to go.
Rock those mom jeans!

Wear a stylish jumpsuit with a belt and accessories
Curvy bodies do not need to shy away from jumpsuits. It’s all about accessories. Wear a belt to emphasize your waist and curves. Wear a V-neck to elongate your silhouette.
Wear a necklace and bracelet that complements your clothes so your entire outfit is cohesive.
