Her son threw sprinkles of sparkly confetti right into this nurse mom’s face, and then promptly cleaned it up with a vacuum he kept on standby.
Taken out of context that sounds kind of weird, but what these kids have done for their nurse mom will totally warm your heart and make you laugh at the same time!
Even though they totally appreciate everything that Lynne Lakes does, especially given the state of the global crisis, this family has a funny way of showing their gratitude.
No, really! Her wisecracking brood have actually cooked up a totally funny way of embracing her awesomeness as soon as she steps through the front door!
Lynne, who is a NHS nurse from Connah’s Quay in the UK, is one helluva lucky lady. While some people always seem to have their noses stuck in their smartphones and barely know how to speak to each other, this family is different.
How so? Well, her kiddos are there to greet her as soon as she comes home from her shift, and they’re ready and waiting to give her their undivided attention.
But, instead of engaging in the usual “how was your day” chit chat, Lynne’s kids and husband give her a “surprise” hero’s welcome, and they change up their cheeky playbook each and every single time.
In a hilarious video montage of these precious moments, sons Peter and Jon, her husband Richard, daughter Zoe and Zoe’s fiancé, Joshua, can be seen standing in honor guard formation in the hallway.
Lynne, who has been a nurse for 38 years, knows that something is up before she even opens the door. That’s because this same scenario has been played out many, many times before.
However, it’s still a mystery in the sense that she doesn’t know exactly what they plan on doing for, or rather, to her!
Surprises include everything from a balloon party to a bouquet of flowers, and even heartfelt cheers of praise.
In one instance, Lynne finds herself showered with a flurry of confetti. What makes it really funny is how her son hoovers up the mess as soon as it hits the floor!
In another scene, a young man who is standing nearest to the door holds out his arm, not to give the nurse a hug, but to squirt a huge dollop of hand sanitzer into her palms.
She didn’t take offense, but smiled and laughed at the practical sentiment.
Jonathan’s video immediately went viral after he posted it on his Twitter feed.
“We as a family have been welcoming our mum home from work as a hero. She is a nurse in the NHS in Britain and is working so hard everyday! We will continue to do this every time she returns home from work.”
People can’t get enough of all the fun this family was having. Everyone from John Krasinski and his new Some Good News channel on YouTube, to old standby’s like The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The BBC, have been hounding this tight-knit crew with questions.
Lynne told ITV News that what her loved ones has done for her has lifted her spirits.
“It lifted me and I felt I could leave everything behind that I’d been involved in at work. Coming home was like ‘aw, I’m home!”
Son Pete says that “everything she does is so selfless” and that she just wants to make people feel happy.
“She barely does anything for herself, and whenever she does she’s thinking of someone else and how can she do something else to make someone happy. For all of us, she’ll go out of her way to make us happy… she’s just the most selfless person anyone knows.”
