The country is facing some difficult times. Every day, we hear horror stories that we wish never happened. But in the midst of so much bad are still a lot of caring people who go above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of others.

Dining out

Even with mask mandates, many people love to go out for a meal. With so many things closed, it’s one thing that individuals can still do. But sadly, not everyone is in a financial position to enjoy such an insignificant outing.

Financial issues

Due to the pandemic, businesses all over the place have closed. The other problem is that a lot of folks have been laid off. As a result, it’s hard to find a place to eat and when they do, the items on the menu just aren’t in the budget.

A remarkable couple

Well, in Alabama, one couple decided to do something to make a positive impact on their community. These individuals own and operate a small restaurant where they serve delicious soul food.

Family style

With a genuine love for the people in their community, they offer family-style meals. That way, people feel as though they’re sitting around their own dining room table while having great conversations.

Fantastic options

The restaurant, Drexell & Honeybee’s, is located in Brewton not far from the Florida border. The eatery has always been known for changing its menu daily.

People flock there to dine on homemade Southern dishes like fried chicken, collard greens, and of course, cornbread.

Not only are people from the south amazing cooks but they’re also some of the most hospitable on the planet.

This couple now offers incredible food without prices.

That means anyone is welcome and they never have to worry about having enough money to pay.

That’s Southern hospitality

The way it works is that guests can come to the restaurant for lunch Tuesday through Thursday. They order what they want and pay what they can. People who visit can also enjoy some of their yummy blueberry cobbler or another dessert item on the menu.

Pure dignity

This kind of gesture is amazing. But the couple does something else. After someone finishes eating, they can go to the entrance where they’ll find a private booth. In complete privacy, they pay whatever they have, even if it’s just a dollar or some coins.

Who are these great people?

The owners of Drexell & Honeybee’s are Lisa and Freddie Thomas-McMillan. But there’s one more thing that people should know about them. This restaurant makes zero profit. They donate 100 percent of the money people pay to serve food to those in need.

What’s their reward?

In response to that question, they said…joy. Their happiness comes from knowing the people who visit their restaurant leave with a full stomach and heart. These two want their patrons to know they’re worthy of being loved.
