Every family has their own holiday traditions.
Many of us exchange gifts, eat together, and decorate the house with a Christmas tree.
However, some families take their holiday traditions even further.
For the Richard family, performing and filming a choreographed dance is how they get into the holiday spirit.
In the video below you can watch the Richard family get down to a very unique version of Jingle Bells.
The video starts in the family’s living room.
There is a fire burning in the fireplace, a decorated Christmas tree, and everyone is dressed up, looking prim and proper.
The music that is playing in the room is what you’d expect it to be–a classic and calm version of the song Jingle Bells.
However, this scene changes very quickly.
One of the Richard boys walks over to the camera and puts his hand over the lens.
When he removes his hand, the entire family is now dressed in comfy Christmas-morning attire–pajamas and t-shirts–and the music starts to change.
A beat is added to the song, taking it from classical jazz to modern hip hop.
The family crouches down in succession to the pulsing beat.
Most of the family then leaves the screen and the remaining three perform a synchronized dance.
They finish their moves and the camera spins over to another group of family members.
The song changes again to a more high-energy beat.
The three family members in this scene jump and spin and dance, clearly enjoying their time with the song.
Those three members then switch out with another three who perform quick footwork to the beat of the song.
When they finish up their dance, the girls in the family decide to take center stage.
After doing a backflip over her brothers’ shoulders, one of the girls lands behind them and is joined by the other girls in the family.
The song breaks down and comes back with a new beat.
To this, the four girls perform a smooth and stylish walk towards to camera.
They are all on point and in sync with the song and one another.
They finish up and the boys decide that they too want a shot at some solo camera time and a little fancy footwork.
They rush into the screen and reform their own dance to the quick beat of the song.
When they finish up, the rest of the family rushes in and squeezes together into one big group.
They all link arms, smile, and laugh as the camera pans towards them.
The music ends with all of them huddled together, clearly enjoying their Christmas as a family.
It’s great to see a family work together to create such an awesome dance for the holidays.
It’s something that they will always be able to look back on and watch as they get older.
If you feel like mixing up your family traditions a bit this year, try putting together a dance like the Richard family.
It looks like tons of fun and it’s a great way to bond together over the holidays.
