Evie Clair has been playing piano and singing since she was 2-years-old. The Florence, Arizona native’s first public performance was when she played Molly in the play “Annie” at Hale Theater at age 8. She went on to perform the National Anthem at a Diamondbacks game and released two original pop singles.

Those singles won her awards at the 2014 Arizona’s Rockin’ with Talent contest.

She also received one of three Judges Choice awards in a worldwide contest for her cover of “Glorious.” America’s Got Talent Wiki also reports that Evie’s talents won her various awards and appearances with religious organizations.

She’s even had her music appear on movie soundtracks and has her own original music available on iTunes, Amazon, Pandora, and Spotify.

But what the singer/pianist is probably most well-known for is making the notoriously stern America’s Got Talent Judge Simon Cowell choke up with emotion.

The 13-year-old got all four America’s Got Talent judges to give her the green light after she sang Christina Perri’s “Arms” during episode 1204 of the show on Season 12. A few episodes later she went on to sing Macy Gray’s “I Try” which landed her a spot in the quarterfinals.

She got standing ovations for her next few performances but really made her mark during week 1 of the semifinals where she delivered a gorgeous rendition of Ella Henderson’s “Yours.”

“I’ve said this before, you are gutsy,” Cowell said after her performance. “You really, really are. Let me tell something. This song was beautiful. I know who wrote this song, but you really made it your version. Your tone, your pitch was stunning. It was laid-back.”

That’s when Cowell got a little bit choked up. He was moved by the thought of her father watching her performance on TV.

“And let me tell you, your dad is going to be so proud of you,” Cowell said, getting a little emotional which caused Evie to tear up.

Her father, Amos, hadn’t been able to attend the live AGT performances because he is sick in the hospital with cancer.

According to Life & Style, he was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer last year and given a 5 percent chance of living.

“When my dad is having rough days, I sing him this song to make him feel better and give him comfort and strength to continue fighting,” she said of the song “Arms.”
