Servicemen and women risk their lives for the sake of all of us back home. If weโre not related to them, though, a lot of folks tend to keep them out of sight and out of mind.
Meanwhile, theyโre overseas and stationed at military bases, dedicating their time, energy, and lives to us Americans. Theyโre individuals with families of their own. They had lives, hobbies, and talents before the military and that doesnโt just go away once they put on uniforms.
When one group of marines had some downtime, they had no idea that they were in for an impromptu concert from one of their own.
With time to kill and a guitar and microphone handy, one marine, Evan Moore, gave his fellow marines something theyโll never forget.

As a civilian, Moore is a musician who loves to take requests for songs to sing with his lovely voice.
But I bet that not a lot of the folks at the show knew that they were in the presence of such talent.

When he opens his mouth to sing Randy Travisโ โThree Wooden Crosses,โ you can see the faces of his audience light up. His voice is so full and calming to listen to.
Released in November of 2002, this was Randy Travisโ 16th single to reach number one. In 2003, it was named Song of the Year by the Country Music Association. The three crosses are references to the memorials you see along the highways, and to traditional Christian iconography. No matter which interpretation you connect with the most, this song is a powerful one for sure. The songwriters, Kim Williams and Doug Johnson, tell an interesting tale of a bus accident, and Randy Travis original rendition is a favorite among country fans.

Randy Travisโ career began in 1978, and since then, heโs recorded 20 studio albums. Thatโs quite the accomplishment! With more than 50 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, itโs no surprise that his songs are a favorite for musicians of all stripes to give a go at. Itโs always so cool to see when a song is given a new twist when another musician like Evan Moore performs it.
When you hear this young marine sing this song, you may have a new favorite version!
I havenโt heard anything quite like his voice before. I could listen to it all day!

This video is a reminder that we always need to support our troops. Theyโre people with families, passions, talents, courage, dedication, and so much to offer to the world.
Itโs also so heartwarming to see the looks on the fellow marinesโ faces during and after the performance. You can tell that they are really a tight unit, that theyโd do anything for each other. They are, after all, responsible for the lives of each other while out on duty. The bonds formed as a service person are unlike any other. The fact that they were able to share this fun moment together is just so great.
