What happens next is hilarious.

It was the 2011 Fall Semester at the University of Toronto. It was also time for the first-year engineering exam. People wanted to do something to help relieve the stress for the incoming first-year engineering students.

As the students begin the exam, gentle music begins to play. Students’ faces definitely look confused, but to further the confusion, one student stands up in the back and begins to sing along to the music. And luckily this was planned very well, so the entire thing was on camera.

“One test more,” the student begins to sing as he defiantly stands up in the back, absolutely belonging on a Broadway stage.

The rest of the students still have no idea what is going on — some of them clearly express the confusion on their face while others giggle to themselves.

A man who we can presume is the class’ professor urges the student to sit down but he does not listen. Instead, another student stands up, joins in, and begins to harmonize with the first student who started it all.

Another student stands up. “Quiet! Sit down!” the professor urges although at this point it is unclear whether or not he is in on the performance or not.

“I will forcefully remove you,” he says. Still, more students join in and they do not seem to be afraid in the slightest. If anything, they grow louder and more confident. Some of the standing students roam from one side of the room to the other (on the classroom tables of course).

“Call security,” the man in the front proceeds to say as he paces back and forth. Some of the students look confused and worried. However, that all goes away as soon as the professor finally decides to join in. “This is your exam,” he sings, maybe being the loudest in the room as he opens up his arms.

As soon as he submits and confirms that he is, in fact, part of the flash mob, the rest of the first-year students seem to ease up as they cheer him on loudly. Now that they know security won’t actually be called, it is hilarious. It’s a classic, spirited flash mob!

The professor still remains in character though even after beginning to sing. He tells students to calm down but at that point it doesn’t matter — now the once-confused students are whipping out their cell phones to record the bizarre moment.

“I’ll say it here, this test is f*cked!” one student sings loudly, in a quite hilarious manner. The class begins to support them and clap along to the beat before giving them a loud applause at the end, when the madness is finally over. They all share a laugh and thankfully, spirits are lifted and some pressure is off of the newbies.

The video went viral since it was uploaded in 2011 and has nearly 4.3 million views on YouTube to this day (which you can see for yourself below).

“Wish I had the same concentration level as the guy in the gray sweater,” one user commented. “This is what happens when you force theater kids to go into industries that actually pay well,” someone else hilariously said.
