It’s tough being apart from the ones we love, something that one adult female lion living in the Kruger National Park in South Africa knows all too well. After the lioness accidentally got separated from her pride, she sat underneath a tree and roared at the top of her lungs for three days hoping her family would be able to find her.
They looked far and wide, and for the first two days, the pride had no luck.
However, the lioness did attract the attention of a local wildlife photographer in the area. He heard the lioness’s loud roars and decided to start filming.
Then on day three, something incredible happened.
The photographer caught the emotional moment the lioness was finally able to reunite with her pride on camera, and we have to say, we are so glad he did. The footage is amazing, and all you animal lovers out there definitely have to check it out.
The video begins with the photographer zooming in on the lioness laying down underneath the tree as she waits for her pride to come back. You can just see the total sadness in her eyes. It’s clear that much like humans, lions also have a strong emotional attachment to their families. She misses them so much.
Soon though, a small miracle occurs.
“On the 3rd day after calling for over 40 minutes. This happened…” the video text reads.
The lioness was sitting there, howling in sadness, when seemingly out of nowhere the whole pride came running down the dusty dirt road nearby.
The wildlife photographer heard the commotion and panned to the left with his camera.
He had been posted up for days watching the lioness and videotaping without any fanfare. And now, all of a sudden, the whole pride of lions was coming at him! He couldn’t believe what he was seeing. There were about five lions in the pride in total and he was just standing there in the open with a camera.
However, the lioness jumped out from underneath the tree to intervene.
She came creeping around the bushes to check out what was going on, and as soon as she and the pride spotted each other, they couldn’t control their emotions any longer.
The all began excitedly charging towards one another.
Although there were zero words exchanged (they are lions after all), you can clearly tell from the footage how happy they all are to see each other.
All six of them have an unmistakable playful bounce in their step, which is very different from what we normally see a lion run like.
They must have been feeling so much joy.
It was great news for the photographer.
The pride was seemingly so happy to see the lioness again that they forgot all about him.
“The pride welcomed her back with great love,” the video reads.
Now that they were all once again reunited, there was only one thing left to do — eat the photographer! Just kidding. They actually all decided to take a nice long nap to rest.
However, we have to say, the photographer definitely has some pretty crazy confidence to be walking around out there unprotected in the open savannah like that. He is so lucky that all he acquired from the experience was some awesome camera footage, as opposed to, I don’t know, maybe some new teeth shaped scars?
But anyway, check out the footage for yourself below, and let us know what you think. It is certainly some wild stuff.
