Lauren Marie Presley is becoming better known in the world of music, but it’s her name that might make you do a double take.
Yes, Lauren is a part of THAT Presley family.
Her father is a distant cousin of the King of Rock-n-Roll. And it’s clear that musical genes run in the Presley family.
At only 12 years old, she stunned the internet with her performance of Sara Evans’ “A Little Bit Stronger,” striking out as a powerful-voiced country singer. Her cover showed off a vocal versatility and control that’s far from typical for a preteen.
The song that catapulted her to fame.
Even at the age of 12, Lauren had dreams of heading to Nashville like her famous distant cousin.
At the time, country music fans — and especially Elvis groupies — exploded with excitement over the 12-year-old’s precocious performance. It seemed certain that even if she’d first attracted attention because of her name, Lauren could rely on her talents to take her far.
Presley, a native of Redwater, Texas is still singing.
Several years ago, she was cast in “Chasing Nashville” and her family decided to uproot their lives in Texas and move to Music City.
She continued to pursue her dreams.
But unexpectedly, the Presley’s stayed in Nashville and Lauren continued to pursue her dreams. She released her first single, “You and Me” in 2018. Her first EP “Sleepless” followed the same year.
“The songs on the EP dives deep into heartbreak and broken relationships,” reads her website. “As [Presley] believes music is a coping mechanism for pain, she hopes her honesty in these lyrics can relate to others; while still having a feel-good vibe. As a rapidly growing artist, there’s much more in store for her career.”
Her career is still-budding and she’s hopeful about the future.
“I just write and sing the music I love, in hopes other people will love it too,” said Presley. “And if I could make a career out of that, that would be a dream.”
Her music comes from the heart, and she has a dream that it’ll touch others in the same way it’s touched her.
She certainly has the voice and the passion to make that happen.
“We’ve worked so hard on this for several months,” said Presley. “We’ve put so much time into it, I hope people can connect to it the way I do.”
But no matter how famous she becomes; people will still remember her for her powerful vocals on her first uploaded video. At 12, her voice matched those of country stars who already had their big break. There’s no telling what this country star will achieve. One thing is certain: she may share a bloodline with the King of Rock-n-Roll, but she doesn’t need to rely on her name to make it big.
