Naturally, with the chickens being kept on the school premises so they could carry out their work they needed tending to. Four students were assigned the task of making sure they were watered and fed. Then they would be taken to the cricket area for their daily snacks.

Some experts say the weather could be a factor. Like when there is a lot of rain that creates a lot of vegetation for these critters. Then when a warm summer follows, it is the perfect environment for the crickets.

Each morning the crickets that have died have to be cleaned up. Using pesticides to handle the problem is not a good idea. It can cause all the dead bodies to pile up, and the smell of dead crickets can be overwhelming. Not to mention, we do not need any more pesticides polluting the air.
Clean up Crews
There are some Pest Control companies that will come in and clean up the dead crickets as they accumulate, which may be necessary because, again, the smell is a big issue. They do not just stay outside either, indoors is fine with them too.
Not every year is as bad as what 2019 was for the yearly cricket invasion.
