While lockdown has been a lonely time for many, our hearts especially go out to all the children who are missing out on their social lives.

For the most part, kids are pretty sociable- and they love nothing more than to attach themselves into whatever you’re doing.

So when five-year-old Theo from Hull, UK, learned that he was going to be spending the next six weeks at home with some electricians from Seytons Electrical, he was immediately excited.

Much to the electricians’ amusement, little Theo spent his whole time following them around, offering refreshments, counting plug sockets and asking lots of questions.

He did such a brilliant job that when their job was done, the electricians decided to surprise him with his first ever payslip.

“Quite possibly the sweetest act of kindness I’ve ever seen!!!! We have had the electricians in every other week for the past 6 weeks and Theo has been obsessed with them!!! He has hounded them with questions, kindness and constant offers of help!!” Theo’s mom, Laura, wrote on Instagram, alongside a picture of the payslip and £15 ($20) in cash.

“I laughed that they would be the sick of the sight of us and happy when the work was finished. One of them popped over today to finish something quickly and surprised Theo with this!!! His first ever job.”

On the ‘Payslip’, Theo was rewarded for “Measuring of items; counting and adding up the number of sockets; catering (yummy cookies); excellent volunteering, and quality assurance (asking lots of questions).

It sounds like he worked hard to earn that money!

Apparently, Theo’s obsession with the electricians had begun from the moment they arrived.

Laura-Nicole, a writer and content creator, told LadBible: “From the second they arrived to check all electrical outlets he was obsessed with them, constant offers to help, asking if they wanted refreshments and asked them what they were doing every step of the way.

When the electricians ended up staying for longer than first expected, Theo was, of course, overjoyed.

“It turned out to be a bigger job than expected and some work needed to be done on the shower and adding more sockets to the property so they had to schedule another couple of visits,” Laura said.

“When they messaged to arrange a time I thought there was no chance I would get Theo to school while they were here. He ran home from school that day as he just couldn’t wait to see them! And was straight in there asking for jobs to do!”

Theo proved himself to be the perfect apprentice. The sweet little boy “made them refreshments, forced cookies upon them and insisted they gave him more jobs to do.”

Despite the workers being busy, they answered each question Theo had with kindness, and always made time for him.

It’s an act of kindness that Laura won’t forget about in a long time.

“I cannot thank them enough, they made Theo so happy while here. Always made time for him and engaged in whatever it was he was asking about (he asked a lot of questions). We have never had workmen in before that have been so kind and attentive to Theo.

“He’s not had anybody in his house the whole pandemic so when they came he just couldn’t get enough.”

The pandemic has been hard on everyone, and for Laura, the electricians came into her life at the perfect time.

“It reminds you that there are good people on the world and that these two guys are brilliant examples of that. I think people needed to see that there is still good in the world, I know I sure did.”
