If you’ve ever been the victim of thieves, you’ll know just how frustrating it can be. Having something stolen from you is never nice, and it seems like thieves and robbers are getting worse and worse nowadays, with rising reports of package thefts, vehicle break-ins, and burglaries too.
While many people choose to invest in alarms and security systems to protect their possessions, one man decided to go a little further.
Ray Taylor, 61, lives in the city of Wolverhampton, England. He’s an electrician and his van is a huge part of his career and livelihood.
On the outside, it’s a simple white van like any other, but inside, Ray stores a lot of expensive tools and equipment used in his work. Unfortunately, thieves know all about this and often target people like Ray, knowing they can break into the van, steal some expensive items, and make a quick getaway.
Ray estimates he’s lost around $6,000 worth of equipment in the last couple of years due to people breaking into his van.
Even with a security camera monitoring the van, the thieves still showed up, so Ray decided to take matters into his own hands and take his security game to the next level.
Using his electrician skills and experience, he decided to create his very own van security system, and it’s far more powerful than a typical car alarm!
Any criminals trying to break into Ray’s van will get a big shock, quite literally! Ray rigged up a ‘live’ door handle, giving anyone who grabs it a 1,000 volt shock.
He used the zapper from a fly swatter to make his booby trap, explaining that it won’t do any long-lasting damage, but it will give any would-be thieves quite a nasty surprise!
Latest addition to my alarm system, to all you tool theives, you are welcome to try it out, and the police say i can use it as long i put a warning sign on the van

Ray also installed a super powerful alarm system to his van, with a siren set to break out at a whopping 120 decibels (that’s louder than a jet!) if anyone tries to break into his vehicle, as well as a set of strobe lights that will begin to flash too.
Basically, Ray has upgraded his van to become pretty much impenetrable! He knows that criminals might still try to break in, but as soon as the lights start flashing, the sirens start wailing, and the handle gives them an electric jolt, they’ll soon realize the error of their ways.

So is this actually legal? Well, the local police force released a statement saying they can’t officially endorse these kinds of techniques, but Ray isn’t technically breaking any laws as long as he puts a little ‘danger’ sign on the van to warn people to stay away.
The system has proven to be even better than expected for Ray. Not only has it given him peace of mind, it’s also earning him some cash!
Other van drivers have been getting in touch asking for Ray to install the same system on their vehicles. He’s charging around $450 each time, so it will only take about a dozen installations for him to regain all the money he lost in break-ins in the past.
