Decently tying a necktie the traditional way is a challenge on its own, but what if we tell you there are eight other ways to do so?
The good news is that these are fairly easy to master and they’re extremely fashionable too.
The below Youtube video shows eight different ways to tie a tie.
First up, the Van Wijk knot.
This is a tall cylindrical knot with an artistic touch. It took a few steps to produce but surely nothing anyone can’t do.
Lisa Van Wijk, the creator of this knot, allegedly wanted to invent the world’s tallest knot.
Next is the Half Windsor knot.
With few twists and turns, this classic knot was created. It’s slightly smaller compared to its counterpart, the Full Windsor knot.
For a more professional look, this is a great place to start.
The Merovingian knot
Also known as the Matrix knot. Originally, this was actually called the Ediety knot and consists of intricate folds with the skinnier end of the necktie in front of the bigger one.
Then, we have the Trinity knot.
This was inspired by a popular Irish jewelry design element called the triquetra.
The knot boasts a beautiful and elegant design that will surely capture anyone’s eyes. Plus, it’s extremely easy to do, too.
A Full Windsor knot
This one is basically the same shape as the Half Windsor but is just a lot larger. Because of its size, it’s typically more formal to look at and works best for men with huge necks.
Next is the Eldredge knot.
This style is more on the complex side but if you want to stand out and make heads turn, this surely is the way to go.
In fact, this knot is said to be the fanciest one, especially for silk neckties.
The Prince Albert knot
Also known as the Double knot, this is perfect for longer ties or shorter men. It is an asymmetrical knot that looks amazing in men of various face shapes and different collar styles.
This sophisticated knot is perfect for formal occasions, thanks to its elegant design and small size.
Finally, the Four In Hand knot
Another beautiful design best suited for less formal events. This is an easy yet versatile knot that’s also asymmetric in nature.
If you’re out with some smart casual buttoned-down dress shirt, this knot is a good one to finish up your look.
And there you have it. Eight easy-to-do yet beautiful ways to step up your necktie game. Remember, practice makes perfect. So, stand in front of a mirror, and try these knots yourself!
