There are so many different ways to profess love or passion. You can be a singer who performs songs as a beautiful way to connect with people, or you can play an instrument like the piano or guitar and express yourself that way. You can also write, paint, play sports, you name it.

Another beautiful way to express yourself creatively is through dance. So many people are lucky enough to get paid to do it, and there are so many different styles — there is probably something for everyone.

Jazz, tap, and hip-hop dance are super fun, while modern and contemporary are also fun but can also get very emotional. A lot of it might seem improvised but it is certainly not — so much physical and mental work goes into it for a result that usually looks effortless. And while some of it is light and airy, it can also get really intense. Especially when it is done to the right song, then it becomes extra powerful!

Two dancers by the name of Connor Gormley and Stephanie Mincone performed a dance to pop-rock singer James Bay’s “Incomplete” and it is filled with passion and emotion.

The song is very appropriate too, as it starts with a picking acoustic guitar and Bay’s quivering, raspy voice. “I breathe in slow to compose myself / But the bleeding heart I left on the shelf,” Bay sings. “Started speeding round, beating half to death / ‘Cause you’re here and you’re all mine.”

The dance, which was directed and produced by Tim Milgram and choreographed by Tessandra Chavez, begins with Gormley in a loft space, staring longingly out a window as the daylight seeps in.

He dances alone at first, utilizing the wall and crawling all over it and grabbing his chest intensely. As he makes his way over to the other side of the wall, Mincone appears and they begin to dance together.

The two have clear chemistry, as they fluidly weave in and out, nailing every move with near perfection. Mincone effortlessly flies onto Gormley’s shoulders at a few points, and they physically lean on each other for support to convey the song’s theme of love and codependency.

Gormley is in a baggy t-shirt and Mincone is in a gorgeous, muted blue dress which, together, make for a beautiful and elegant pairing.

They also demonstrate a high level of physical strength, as they use each other to literally do somersaults and flips, sometimes pausing midway while in the air. Talk about core strength! And quad strength!

As the song intensifies, so do the dance moves. It feels almost as if the two are telling a romantic story together — one that they must have spent hundreds of hours rehearsing — because they were not a single move out of place.

At the end, they both stand still with their backs to each other. As the camera turns and just shows the male dancer, the female dancer suddenly disappears, further deepening the story.

It’s kind of a sad ending, but so beautiful and well done!
