I don't even mind that this song will be stuck in my head for the next 24 hours

Do you remember? The 21st night of September? Admit it, you didn’t read that line. You sang it. Just like everyone else who knows the hit song from one of the most influential bands of the ’70s: Earth, Wind, and Fire.

And while we can sing along to the song, September has been a witness to nights where we suddenly knew how to dance.

Through the funky groove and the festive trumpet lines, we jived to the beat while singing the higher lines through the top of our disco-glazed lungs.

South Korea-based dance crew Ahdoo will never let us forget the 21st night of September with their feel-good cover of Jisoo Yu and David Hart’s choreography of the same song.

The video starts in an unassuming street and a sprightly duo dressed in jumpers, beanies, brightly colored pullovers, and comfy jeans.

As the brass picks up, the duo dances through the beat and delivers a performance that will definitely make you long for the breezy days of summer and the good vibration that comes with it.

We can’t blame them, though. The song will almost always get you on the dance floor no matter how hard you try not to. And next thing you know, you’re partying all day and embracing your inner boogie.

Written by Al Mckay, Allee Willis, and Maurice White, the band’s hit song “September” took heavy influences from R&B, funk, and jazz and melded these elements into the iconic dance-pop tune we all know by heart.

“September” was included in the band’s “Best of Earth, Wind & Fire Vol. 1” record and broke through the top 10 when it was first played in 1978.

Almost fifty years later, the song has taken a life of its own, dominating the airwaves, appearing in movies, and giving the feeling of energetic festivity to any occasion.

While we all thought that it’s a perfect song for shaking your tailfeathers and pumping your shoulders, dancers Jisoo Yu and David Hart performed a bouncy choreography that exudes the festive but chill energy of the song.

The choreography first appeared in UNC Moonlight Dance Crew’s YouTube channel where you can hear the audience cheer as the dancers took over the stage.

They proved that the song still held its undeniable groovy charms as they boogied through the tune.

Two years later, Ahdoo Dance Crew picked up the choreography and performed their version of it.

Their dance cover was filmed in South Korea, featuring a jaw-dropping backdrop of cherry blossoms and a pastel color palette that’s easy on the eyes.

The song and the choreography, together with the visuals, are enough to make you bounce on your seat if you’re not already on your feet dancing.

The energy is nothing short of contagious. For those who are kinesthetically gifted, the dance is also easy to learn and follow. But no worries for us who have two right feet as we can always enjoy watching their fluid dance moves.

You can catch the whole choreography on Ahdoo’s YouTube channel and you can also visit their Instagram account for more dance covers.
