According to CANIDAE, Border collies can be a difficult dog to own: they require a lot of exercise, and their intelligence and natural curiosity mean they’re always busy doing something, ultimately “keeping their owners on their toes.”
The thing is, Border collies are extremely intelligent animals, sitting “at the top of the list of most intelligent dog breeds”, with some saying they may even be “the smartest dog in the world”, reports CANIDAE.
And one Border collie named Hali is an amazing example of that legendary Border collie intelligence!
In a clip, which according to Yahoo, originated on Reddit before being uploaded to YouTube, we see a dog named Hali heading to the store with his owner— but this is no ordinary shopping trip.
As you will soon see, Hali is definitely calling the shots!
The store is a Canadian Tire Superstore.
While most people frequent this store for items like tools, BBQs, and tires, Hali is here for something bigger and better: a few packs of delicious dog treats— and he’s going to pick them out himself!
After entering the store, the scene cuts to the treat aisle, where Hali’s owner has placed a red basket for him to put his goods— and he knows exactly what he wants!
You see the pup browsing the aisles until he finds the desired treats, grabbing them in his mouth and dropping ’em into the shopping basket.
“Yup, put it in the basket! Good boy!” Hali’s owner says encouragingly.
After picking out a few treats (with jerky treats and Blue Dog Bakery brand Perfect Trainers being his favorites), Hali makes his way to the cash register to pay for his yummy selections!
The extremely well-trained pup passes his treats over the counter to the cashier, standing on his back legs in a hilariously human fashion.
When it’s time to pay, he even passes the money!
Before leaving, Hali accepts a treat from the pleasant cashier, and with that, the Collie merrily takes his bags of treats and leaves the store— heading home to eat, I am sure!
Canadian Tire executives caught wind of Hali’s shopping adventure, sharing the video— which has been viewed over 1.2 million times— on their corporate Twitter page!
