It was a frightening scene at a Chinese zoo in the Jiangsu Province, as a little pet dog slipped right through the hands of its owner and dropped down into one of the habitats of the zoo animals. The only problem was that the pet dog fell in the environment where a pair of deadly predator tigers were residing.

The pup that fell into the tigers’ den luckily made it out just in time, as the zookeepers made their best efforts to scare away the two Siberian tigers that were already lurking towards the canine.

The footage is truly breathtaking, as you can see the tigers glancing at the dog from the moment it tumbled down to their den.

The Chinese newspaper Modern Daily reports that a couple has bought a Bichon Frise pup, known for their adorable and fluffy fur and very limited size. They ignored the warnings placed by the Yancheng Wild Animal World in Changzhou not to bring any animals to the zoo but brought their pup anyway. According to the newspaper, they claimed: “there [would] be no problem for bringing a small pet and [would] keep it close”.

While looking at the viewing platform, the pup suddenly slipped away. The viewing platform was situated fairly highly and separated the animals from the visitors, and the dog was almost immediately noticed by the tigers.

A couple of moments later after the dog fell down, a couple of zookeepers did their best to try and resolve the issue by protecting the helpless dog and distracting the seemingly hungry Siberian predators.

Armed with firecrackers, the two hunters were scared away and the pup was rescued thanks to a special net.

The Yancheng Wild Animal World Zoo has been the subject of controversy lately, as a live donkey was fed to these same Siberian tigers just a month before this incident. It sparked a global outrage on social media, and the zoo has since decided to set up a monument in memory of the donkey that gave its life for the pair of Siberian tigers.

This amazing rescue all ended well thanks to the rapid response by the zookeepers. After the Bichon Frise made its way back to the visitor’s area again, he was immediately examined by a zoo veterinarian. Thankfully, the adorable pup didn’t suffer any injuries and was doing perfectly fine.
