Positive thinking might just seem like an attitude adjustment, but it actually leads to tangible health benefits. Thinking positively is extremely effective in fighting depression; it leads to a change in thought patterns that can improve your mood and your health. It helps people recover from diseases or surgeies faster, and it strengthens the immune system. Positive thinking can even help someone to cope better with stress.

With all of these health benefits, you can see why a doctor would be interested in something that could enhance a patient’s mood. This doctor helped turn his patients’ frowns upside-down, medication-free. His genius technique brightened many children’s days and helped more than one of them recover faster.

Not only is this beautiful song a beautiful way of showing a doctor’s concern for his patients, it is also an effective treatment in the fight against cancer. In fact, this type of treatment has been termed “music therapy.” According to the Cancer Center, this treatment involves “using music to address your physical and emotional needs in a therapeutic environment.”

The Center explains that music therapy “may be used to help alleviate emotional, physical and social stresses caused by cancer, or to boost your mood and help you through cancer treatment and recovery.” The practice is becoming so popular that therapists can even become certified in the treatment process.

The Cancer Treatment Centers of America, of CTCA, have employed mind-body therapists. As the website explains, “Mind-body medicine, an integral part of whole-person care, recognizes the powerful ways in which emotional, mental, social and behavioral factors may directly affect a patient’s physical health.”

Dr. Martins clearly knows his stuff. This doctor might have seemed like he was having fun when he came in to work that day, but he was also giving his patients invaluable medicine: positivity. With new advancements in medicine happening all the time, it is a good idea to keep an open mind.
