Myaโ€™s fear had taken over her being able to comfortably sleep alone at night.

Her parents, Aaron and Amber, explain to CTV News that Myaโ€™s fear of monsters had gotten so bad that she was lying awake at night and wasnโ€™t able to sleep alone. Her father continues,

โ€œShe was always saying there were monsters in her room, there was something here, something thereโ€ฆWe have been trying to tell her for a while that theyโ€™re trying to be her friends and not to worry.โ€

An interesting suggestion, however, Mya had no interest in becoming friends with the monsters that lurked in the shadows around her.

โ€œSheโ€™ll come to me and say, โ€˜Daddyโ€ฆmonster over there!โ€™, and Iโ€™ll say oh yeah, you better go get him,โ€ he says. โ€œ(Sheโ€™ll get) her bottle of monster spray and (go) โ€˜Choo, choo, choo!โ€™ Then she goes, โ€˜Donโ€™t worry, Daddy. The monster is gone.โ€
