There are many chores that we do that we just go about doing the same way each time. For example, opening a can.

One Couple Sees It Differently
There is a couple who are from Bethlehem Pennsylvania that had the inspiration to show how a simple can opener can be used more effectively.
To demonstrate they made a video that became a big hit among viewers.
Sometimes simplicity can be mind-blowing.
Using The Can Open The Regular Way
The can opener is on its side which is the way it would normally be used.
The Right Way
Now the can opener is placed on top of the can instead of the side.
Once it is placed you can hear it clear as the cutter bites into the lid of the tin.
Then the user can begin twisting as the opener moves around the end cutting the lid as it goes.
Once the turn has been completed the lid lifts easily off. The magnet holds it to the opener. There is o mess or fuss with the lid dropping into the contents of the can.
The FeedBack
The idea of using the can opener this way caused quite a stir by those who got to see the video. (It has since been removed). According to Insider the video was viewed 65,546 and lots of comments were left concerning it.
Not As Safe As It Looks
Some felt that although it was innovative that it was not safe to use the can opener this way. They thought that it may leave the cut edge too sharp creating a risk for people to cut themselves easier.

It is interesting to see that a simple demonstration such as this created so many different community conversations and threads

The Controversy Continues
After the first demonstration and it is a big hit it would seem likely that it would no longer be a hot topic and there would be some new revelations to get the communities talking. However, the controversy of the can opener continued.

One viewer who has seen the original video decided to put it to the test himself.
“The Right (Wrong) Way To Open A Can”
This new video was created by Cast Iron Chaos and they went about demonstrating the can open just as it had been done in the original video.
The outcome of the demonstration was identical.
Most Interesting
This video that showed the exact same thing ended up with over 349,000 viewers. So the viral frenzy of the way to open a can continued on.
The bottom line is none of these viral videos gave a definitive answer as to which is the proper way to open a can.
