If you’ve ever worked a job that sees you going from door to door across neighborhoods, you’ll know better than anyone else that we all have our own story.
It’s surprising how much you can learn about somebody’s life from stopping by at their home to drop off a parcel, deliver takeaway food or advertise your business.

Sometimes, you’ll get a glimpse into a person’s happiness – but it can go the other way, too.
One Amazon delivery driver read a sign on a customer’s door that caused her to stop and pray – and the heartwarming moment was caught on camera by the owners’ smart security doorbell.

The driver, who’s known only as Monica, stops at Raquel Pearson’s Idaho home to deliver some packaged goods, before stepping back and bowing her head.
For several moments, she stays on the spot, then makes a cross sign across her chest.
It’s a quick moment – and the next minute, Monica has turned and walked back to her delivery vehicle.

Raquel, the homeowner, knew the footage was too beautiful to keep to herself, so she shared it in a mutual aid support group on Facebook.
The video went viral, picking up more than 500 shares and 2,000 likes.
The reason why Monica was praying becomes obvious when you read Raquel’s caption beneath the video. Her son, 8-month-old Lucas, has a pre-existing heart condition that puts him at risk of coronavirus.

Raquel wrote:
“I just wanted to share a sweet moment we caught on video. We have a sign on our door thanking delivery personnel for bringing us our supplies because we have an infant with medical needs. Our Amazon driver dropped off our package, read our note, and prayed for our boy before heading out.”

She added:
“Edit: You have helped me locate the delivery driver! Her name is Monica and apparently she has been praying for us this whole time. This is just the first time we happened to pay attention to our camera.”
Lucas has a condition called ARSA, a vascular anomaly that people are born with.

For his doting parents, navigating their way through raising a poorly child during the COVID pandemic hasn’t been easy. Speaking to KTVB, Raquel admitted:
“It’s been really hard for us to get through this so I’m really touched that a stranger would take time out of her day to wish our son well like that.”
According to Lucas’ family, he suffers from symptoms such as difficulty swallowing, chronic coughing, and shortness of breath.

It’s unsurprising, given his condition, that Lucas is more at risk of contracting COVID-19.
For that reason, Lucas’ parents have tried to stay home as much as possible to minimize their son’s risk.
Raquel explained:
“He needs special thickeners to be able to eat, otherwise he aspirates his milk, so we really depend on getting all of these supplies online so we don’t have to go out to the store and bring a virus home.”
A fundraiser has been set up by the Pearson family to pay for the treatment their son desperately needs.

The fundraiser description reads:
“Since birth, we have been on a long journey to find a solution so that he is able to eat pain free and live a normal life. We have been advised to seek treatment at Boston Children’s Hospital where a surgeon is highly renown in the ARSA community for his great work.”
