A good makeover can you make you look much better— but it’s also a scary thing. What if the stylist makes you look worse? What if you hate your new look?
Giving someone free reign over your appearance requires a lot of trust— and that’s something Debbie was struggling with.
The Chicago native had always wanted a makeover, but she wasn’t going to let just anybody do the job. In an interview, she said: “I have never found somebody who I thought could make me look my best.” But with her 60th birthday around the corner, she decided to take the leap.
This birthday, Debbie had made herself a promise. She was going to do one of two things: She was either going to give up completely, letting her hair grow in a natural way, or she was going to visit Christopher Hopkins, the Makeover Guy himself.
Mustering up her courage, Debbie placed her trust in Hopkins’ hands. “My husband doesn’t understand why I even want to do it,” she told the camera— but it was something she was doing for herself.
In the video’s description, Hopkin describes the state of Debbie’s hair, writing:
“She came in with white regrowth and brown ends on very curly hair. She said the magic words, ‘Do whatever you want,’ and so I did.”
Debbie’s courage allowed Hopkins to pick a style that would make her look great— one she may not have agreed to had she been reluctant to trust his choice.
During the makeover, Debbie learned her ideal colors were warm and Spring-like— the opposite of the grey and black she’d been sporting. Although Hopkins admits it was “not an easy correction”, a gorgeous strawberry blonde with highlights did the trick.
With her styled hair and professional makeup, Debbie looks like a completely different person.
“I don’t recognize myself,” she tells the camera.
“My family’s not going to recognize me!”
“I am fabulous!”
Since being uploaded last week, Debbie’s makeover has already been viewed nearly 70,000 times. The transformation is truly incredible, taking years off her age. In fact, many of the Makeover Guy’s subscribers are calling it his best makeover yet.
