It was on October 8 when it was made public that musician and record producer David Foster, 70, and his 36-year-old wife Katharine McPhee, actress, singer, and Smash star, are having a baby.

The couple met back in 2006, when McPhee was selected to be a participant in the fifth season of American Idol. During that season, producer David Foster was included in the show as guest mentor for Top 6 Week. The two of them met and, later on, collaborated on various music projects after the show was over.

Foster, who had already been married four times, divorced his fourth wife, Yolanda Hadid, mother of top models Gigi and Bella Hadid, in May 2017.

By that time, Foster already had five biological children and seven grandchildren. But this didn’t keep McPhee from falling in love with him and eventually marrying him in June 2019.

In fact, McPhee is so in love with him that she even wrote a track “The real reason I married David” and wanted to make sure everyone knows she feels so lucky to have married the love of her life by posting a wedding photo and love confession to him on their anniversary earlier this year.

“A year ago today I married the love of my life. Thank you for always loving me and inspiring me in all aspects of my life. I love you. Here’s to the future!” she wrote.

The news of McPhee’s pregnancy was broken just last week, when the young star was captured on camera “with what appeared to be a bulging baby belly” in Montecito, California.

During that outing, she also had lunch with her husband Foster, while they also stopped at a children’s store, which makes even more sense.

Now that the couple is soon having a baby, it is important to take a look at the relationship between Foster’s young wife and his children, whose ages range from 34 to 50.

According to Foster, McPhee has a positive relationship with all of them.

“I think she navigates it really, really well,” he told People. “And so do they. Because they could be horrible. It sure makes it easier for me that they get along. It’s not a fleeting thing, either. It’s been a few years.”

Of course, David Foster is not the first celebrity to have a baby at an older age. Like many before him, he proves that love and parenthood has really no age for men.

For instance, Mick Jagger became a father for the eighth time at the age of 73. He and his 29-year-old wife, at the time, had a son.

Also, John Stamos, AKA Uncle Jessie from Full House, had his first child at the age of 54, while George Clooney had his twins, Ella and Alexander, with his 40-year-old wife, Amal, when he was 56 years old. Of course, Alec Baldwin couldn’t be missing from this list, since he had three children with his new wife, Hilaria, after the age of 55.

And the list just goes on and on.

It might sound weird to some, but having children at an older age seems to just give these people power and strength to keep going and enjoying their lives. What people say is of little or no importance, when you know your partner truly loves you and you are creating a family together, no matter what the age difference is.
