It’s always a joy to see and watch the reaction of any grandparent when their son or daughter announces they’re going to have a baby or when their new grandchild is born. It doesn’t matter if it’s the first grandchild ever or the tenth, it will always be the same reaction.
And this video perfectly captures the reaction of Papa Jim when he meets his new grandchild
Papa Jim has always been the only male in his family, apart from his own dad. He has two sisters in his family. When he got married, he and his wife had four daughters. And when they got married, they gave him two granddaughters.
Boy, was he in for a surprise!
It’s the morning of his 49th birthday. His daughter has just given birth and he was at the hospital to meet his third granddaughter. Papa Jim was happy, of course, to have another granddaughter.
When he entered the hospital room, his family was already there and he walked right up to his daughter to greet his new grandchild. He notice the baby’s dark hair, asked his daughter about it, and asked nothing else.
With his new grandchild in his daughter’s arms, he just stared at him and watched him sleep.
Wanting to reveal the surprise, his daughter removed the cloth that covered his chest. But when his daughter removed the cloth, Papa Jim still didn’t notice! He noticed the baby’s long fingers, instead. “More long fingers again, huh?”
His daughter waited for him to notice the baby’s onesie.
And everyone in the room was silent, waiting for his reaction when he finally discovers the surprise. His other daughter, who was filming the entire video, went even closer to get a better shot of his reaction.
Papa Jim reached out to touch his grandchild’s hand and still didn’t notice the message on the onesie! His daughter had to move her baby’s hands so Papa Jim could see something was written there.
Finally, Papa Jim noticed a message written on the onesie and lifted his grandchild’s hand so he could read it. “Fyi,” he started.
He read the rest of the message and was speechless.
After a few seconds of silence from Papa Jim, the only word he uttered was, “What?”, which made everybody laugh, partly from relief because he finally saw the onesie. He was still in shock until his daughter had to repeat that his new grandchild was not what he thought.
“No way,” he replied.
His daughter kept nodding and said his new grandchild’s name was Lander James. He finally smiled and exclaimed, “You brats!” He smiled and shook hands with his son-in-law. And he was just His eyes began to get wet and tears fell out as he stared at his grandson.
His wife said his daughter kept the gender from him for a long time. Papa Jim still couldn’t believe it!
“You might want to check,” he said. His son-in-law said they could take off the onesie.
Papa Jim just kept saying “Wow” again and again.
