Caught off-guard, a mother of two is struck by a rotating propeller in a horrific accident. Luckily, she had two guardian angels to keep her alive throughout the fatal encounter.
Matters of life and death can get pretty heavy, especially when they involve people who are closest to you. There’s no doubt these near-death moments can cause sickening trauma that really puts things into perspective from that point forward. Even a nice day at the beach has tragedy looming in every corner.
At times, a ray of light can unexpectedly shine out of nowhere in these dark moments to save the day. That was the case for one mom who encountered an extremely painful ordeal at what seemed like a nice day out with her family. I would like to warn that the following visual descriptions may be graphic for some.
Clear blue skies don’t necessarily spell out a blissful day. Things were about to take an unexpected turn…
Sue Brady took a day off with her two daughters and boyfriend to go to the beach. Their plan was to simply have an enjoyable day in the crystalline waters of Sanibel Island. All seemed well getting there until an unfortunate accident occurred. In a blink of an eye, her life took a sudden twist of fate.
Sue believed her boyfriend was in the boat waiting for her when suddenly her arm and leg caught on to the propeller when her boyfriend turned on the engine. Her limbs were severely cut deeply in the process. The terrible incident left Sue franticly fighting for her life as the time on the clock was ticking. Luckily for Sue, two unlikely heroes rose to the occasion.
Her two teenage daughters, one 12 the other 13 years of age, came in to save the day! They confidently stayed composed and attended to her mom in amazing fashion. The propeller had struck Brady’s entire left side and so her daughters had to very quickly. They began to pull her bleeding mom to shore to request for immediate assistance.
“They saved my life, 100 percent,” Brady said. “When we finally did get to shore, somebody had given us a couple towels,” Brady said. “They made sure to put pressure on my body, and they just kept saying things to me like, ‘We love you, Mom. You’re going to see us graduate. You’re going to watch us get married. This isn’t over, Mom. Stay with us.”
Surprisingly, the girls kept their composure and were able to help their momma through this incredibly tough time. The trauma helicopter finally arrived and came to extract Sue out of the scene.
Brady’s cousin, Amanda Overmire, commented and said, “I thought she was gonna die,” Overmire said. “I heard about it when it happened. She lost so much blood. We weren’t sure if she was gonna make it through the night.”
But thanks to the strength shown by her daughters, Sue pulled through.
I would have died,” Brady said. “I would’ve died for sure.”
Sue has been receiving treatment and has been kept in good condition ever since she was taken into medical attention.
There was no telling what would have happened without the miraculous help of Sue’s two daughters. Brady mentioned that she severed a nerve on her leg. Additionally, Sue ended up with a broken hip and leg bone.
The good news is that she recently has had surgery and is optimistic that the road to recovery will be a swift one.
Times like these remind us how fragile life is and how easily it can all be taken away. Sue has taken this experience and turned it into an opportunity to express her gratitude for her young saviors. “They weren’t standing there like the rest of the grown-ups. They jumped in and saved my life.”
