When youโre young, parents seem so strict. They seem to think everything is a big deal and it feels like they just donโt trust you.
But often, parents know best. Thatโs because theyโve been around long enough to know what kinds of bad things can happen. These are things that their children โ who feel like theyโre invincible โ donโt yet realize.
Then again, when parents are strict and donโt talk to their kids about the repercussions of their behaviors, kids truly donโt understand why theyโre always being told โno.โ
The following story is a worst-case scenario designed to be a lesson. And if the child and parents had ALL been more open and honest, they could have avoided tragedy.

Once there was a young woman who had an argument with her parents.
Her friends were going to a party, so she wanted to go too. However, her parents were very protective of her and said โno.โ
The girl was so furious, and she ran to her room and slammed the door. She had no intention of listening to her parents.
So she got dressed and snuck out of her home.
She rushed to the party where she met a man several years older than her. The young woman found him more and more attractive as they kept talking. She was laughing and having a great time.
But the man was drinking heavily that night.
Eventually, he asked her if she wanted to go with him to another nearby party โ and she agreed happily.
On their way out to the car, the man tripped. The girl knew it was because he was very drunk, so she started to hesitate about getting in a car with him.
But the moment she tried to talk he laughed at her and told her to stop acting stupid.
He sped along the highway, driving recklessly and way too fast. Then, he put one of his arms on her shoulders.
The young woman repeatedly asked him to slow down, but he just ignored her.
All of a sudden, she got blinded by headlights flashing their way. The guy was driving towards oncoming traffic.
The young woman didnโt even have time to scream before they crashed into another car.
She later woke up in a hospital bed where she woke up in unbearable pain, unable to move her legs or arms. One of the nurses told her that she was involved in a head-on collision.
When asked the nurse about the man, she found out that he was killed on impact.
Then she asked about the passengers in the car they hit, and the nurse told her they all died on impact too.
The young woman started crying immediately as her body was racked with pain and her soul shredded by guilt. She could feel her death was approaching.
While holding the nurseโs hand, she begged her to give her parents a message.
โTell them I am very sorry. Tell them I am sorry for being disobedient and that I love them very much. Please make sure to give them this message. Can you promise me you will?โ
The nurse replied with a simple bow without saying a word and kept holding the girlโs hand.
In just a few minutes, the girl passed away.
A doctor who overheard their conversation asked the nurse why she hadnโt replied to the girlโs final request.
The nurse sighed and said โI didnโt know what to say. I did not know how to tell her that the people who died in the same accident were her parents who were looking for her.โ

While death and destruction donโt lie at the end of every bad decision, there are consequences to bad decisions.
And we should always think about how we speak to our loved ones โ in case itโs the last thing we ever say.
