You scream, I scream, we can all scream for ice cream next week because Dairy Queen will be giving it out for free. Yup, you heard it folks… for… FREE!
It’s been a long ass winter and we are all patiently awaiting the first day of spring.
So, what better way to “treat yo’self” than with a celebratory “I made it through winter” ice cream cone. In honor of the first day of spring, Dairy Queen will give away free ice cream cones on Tuesday, March 20, according to Delish.
So make sure you mark your calendar or set an alert on your phone. The Fourth Annual Free Cone Day will help raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals through customer donations.
The free cone giveaway will only be available at participating non-mall locations at Dairy Queen and DQ Grill & Chill restaurants.
“We’re excited for our fourth annual Free Cone Day,” said Maria Hokanson, Executive Vice President of Marketing for American Dairy Queen Corporation, in a press release. “This day has become a spring tradition and a sign that warmer weather is upon us.”
Everyone who walks into a participating Dairy Queen or DQ Grill & Chill on March 20 will be entitled to one of Dairy Queen’s signature curly cue topped vanilla cones for free while supplies last.
“Silky smooth DQ® soft serve is truly one of life’s simple pleasures. Our cone with the curl on top is one of the most recognized treats in the world and that signature curl is a DQ quality test we take tremendous pride in,” added Hokanson.
“There’s a reason DQ soft serve tastes so delicious and special. From cow to cone, dairy farmers and local operators take tremendous pride in bringing smiles to millions of fans’ faces through our creamy DQ soft serve.”
Dairy Queen customers raised almost $300,000 for local hospitals during last year’s Free Cone Day. Dairy Queen has helped to raise more than $125 million for local children through the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in the last 30 years.
So, make sure you call ahead to your local Dairy Queen to find out if they are participating.
You don’t want to get all excited for a free cone only to find out that they aren’t going to give you one! Now, all that’s left is to grab your Lactaid and a friend and make sure you take advantage of this free sweet treat.
People are already making plans tagging their friends on social media and making plans to meet up for Free Cone Day. So get your priorities in order and get your free cone on.
While we’re on the subject of free ice cream, it only makes sense that we eat as much free ice cream as we can.
According to Bustle, Ben & Jerry’s usually holds a Free Cone Day each year as a thank you to customers. They were offering multiple flavors of free cones between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m. on April 4, so it’s likely that they’ll have something similar around the same time this year.
Häagen-Dazs’s Free Cone Day will host their Free Cone Day on May 8 and will offer one free kiddie scoop per guest in a sugar cone, cake cone, or cup at participating locations.
Like we said, it’s been a very long winter so we TOTALLY deserve this. Bring on the ice cream and spring!
