If you have an Aldi grocery store in your neighborhood, then you will know exactly what we are talking about when we say that their cashiers are fast. They are so fast, that the unsuspecting person may not realize if the cashier is just having a bad day or if they really do move that fast as they quickly throw the times into the cart.
The Cunningham family was giggling as they left Aldi for the first time.
Travis Cunningham made his first trip to Aldi with his wife, Taylor. The couple went about their normal shopping and at Aldi, it’s easy to find good prices in a well-laid out environment. But when they got to the checkout, Travis was in for a surprise.
Travis told Today Parenting what he experienced, ”I was taken aback by how quickly they scanned and the means in which they placed the items in the cart. I thought the worker was just having a bad day and Taylor could tell I was about to say something and basically held her hand over my mouth. I wasn’t angry, I was basically laughing wondering if this person just hated canned goods or was going for a high score shooting them into the cart.”
The couple was almost in tears as they left the store, laughing at the site they just witnessed. The cashier had moved so quickly that Travis found it hysterical.
Dad’s impression has become an internet sensation.
When the couple got home, they took a video of Travis impersonating the Aldi cashier with his children’s toy kitchen and cashier set. He knelt in front of the kitchen with a stoic look on his face as he blindly grabbed the items and tossed them into (or sometimes missing) the cart. Nothing threw off his groove as you hear his wife and children giggling in the background.
Aldi is known for having quick checkouts.
We are all cracking up because we can totally relate to the Cunningham family’s experience. Aldi has streamlined its checkout process to make it efficient and simple.
Many of the items have larger barcodes that span the entire box, making it easier for the item to register when being scanned. Once you pay, you then take your cart full of purchased goods and either bag or box them yourself at a separate counter. The process works well and you can get in and out fairly quickly.
The couple, of course, wants everyone to know that they were not trying to dishonor anyone or the grocery chain.
Taylor explained, “We shop at Aldi. We certainly meant no disrespect to the employees or company. As far as the impression goes, that’s just a normal night at our house. We have lots of fun and sometimes that fun turns into over-the-top impersonations that lead to tears from laughter.”
Sometimes it does not take much for a family to make a fun memory.
