A big wedding day is something we all dream about at some point in our lives. Of course, it is filled with nothing but joy, love, friends and family. Beautiful vows are read, people drink and dance and eat a whole lot of cake. It’s a wonderful time of celebration!
There is some bittersweetness that can be felt on that day though too. If a bride’s father is giving her away, it can be a very sentimental moment. The daughter is finally flying away from her nest as her father gives her to a man… Usually, a whole bag of emotions is felt!
What we see a lot at weddings after the father gives his daughter away, is a daddy-daughter dance. This moment, in particular, is usually sweet and done to a very emotional song.
Back in 2012, this daddy-daughter duo were doing the dance together. It seemed totally normal at first — very sweet and tender — as they danced to “I Loved Her First” by Heartland.
It was your quintessential daddy-daughter dance. The bridge, Lisa, looked at her father with lots of love as he led the way. All of the guests at the wedding were watching with big smiles across their faces… And they had no idea what was coming next.
Suddenly, when we think the dance is coming to an end, it is actually far from over.
Lisa and her father twirl away from each other and then the classic song, “Stayin’ Alive” by Bee Gees, begins to play.
Seemingly out of nowhere, the two break into a full-on choreographed dance to the funky disco bop. It was clearly something that was planned and rehearsed in advance since Lisa’s moves were completely in sync with her father’s.
Their guests seemed to be beside themselves, as they broke out into surprised laughter.
The dance could have ended there but it didn’t. Instead, the two decided to keep wowing the crowd and switch up the songs.
At one point, “Crank That (Soulja Boy)” by Soulja Boy begins to play and the two do the classic dance together. It is so intensely hilarious that guests start whipping out their cell phones to take photos and videos at this point!
A few other songs come into play, like “Drop It Like It’s Hot” by Snoop Dog featuring Pharrell. Somewhere in the middle of the chaos, they even whip out a “stanky leg” together.
It is safe to say that this was not your ordinary daddy-daughter dance but nonetheless, it was absolutely perfect.
It is so entertaining when people decide to switch up some traditions and it is so refreshing to see Lisa and her father’s senses of humor (it is clear where she gets it from!). Even when her dad seems to be doubting himself, he pulls through and continues on because his love for her is clear!
Seeing something so joyous like this is so uplifting, especially right now. This happened back in 2012 but it is still so entertaining. We love their love!
