Blanco Brown (real name Bennie Julius Amey III) is an Atlanta, Georgia singer/songwriter/producer who has written and produced hits for many artists, including Chris Brown.
After writing and recording for others, he finally released his own music this year, which included his debut single “The Git Up.”
“The Git Up” is an interesting fusion of genres including country and R&B. It took the No. 1 spot and also went viral on the social video platform TikTok. It went viral after Brown posted a video of himself doing a dance to the song. After that, many people followed and decided to record their own versions of the dance to the song. It’s called the Git Up Challenge.
We’ve seen lots of great attempts of the Git Up Challenge so far, like this police officer doing the challenge, but we may have just discovered the best version yet.
Uploaded in July 2019, the challenge is done by a father, who is in the navy, and his adorable daughter, who is wearing a t-shirt that says “Navy” on it.
As the enter on the floor, the two begin with a rehearsed father-daughter handshake and obviously completely nail it. Then they both sway from side to side and clap in unison. They have clearly put a lot of effort into the routine and it is so cute.
The daughter is also wearing her father’s navy hat.
Once the bass and chorus kick in, the two both dive right into the routine and stomp their feet. The father twirls his daughter around, making her feel like the total princess that she is, and the two are all smiles the whole time.
They even have an anonymous person help out with some unexpected — yet creative — props. During the line in the song, “Gonna throw down, take a sip with it,” someone off-camera throws cups to both of the dancers. Then they catch it, pretend to take a sip, and then throw them back off camera. It all goes flawlessly too — how did they not drop that while dancing?!
They both follow the lyrics to the song perfectly without missing a beat.
It is also pretty hard to tell who is having a better time… Yes, the daughter is ecstatic to be there and she is absolutely smashing every move, but the father seems to have a pretty gigantic smile on his face throughout the entire clip. You can’t miss that genuine joy!
The two continue to rock the dance and then end it the best way possible: with a cute fist bump and lots of laughs.
The video has gone viral since it was posted, reaching over 549,000 views along with thousands of comments and likes.
“You’re doing a great job dad thanks for your service and thanks for spending quality time with your daughter and creating memories,” one YouTube user wrote in the comment section. “Both of you will never forget. Well spent time with your daughter.”
