Being a parent is hard work. In addition to taking care of yourself, you have to take care of and provide for your family. It can be a lot to handle, but it is always worth it in the end.
One man knows that lesson better than anyone. This man lives with his daughter in Pennsylvania, and there is nothing he wouldn’t do for his family. He is tirelessly working toward a better life for his family, and he won’t let anything get in his way.
Nevaeha Smith’s dad is one of the hardest working people you will ever meet. He keeps up with three different jobs just to keep his family afloat. That would be an incredible responsibility anyone, and being the dad of a teenager only makes it harder.
Nevaeha has just completed 8th grade, so she is right in the middle of her transition into womanhood. Anyone who has ever raised a child knows that this is a time of turmoil. Young teenagers are going through dozens of hormonal changes that seem to make the stresses of life even more unbearable.
Luckily, Nevaeha has the greatest dad in the world. This man will stop at nothing to put a smile on his little girl’s face. Regardless of how hard he works, however, there are limitations to this man’s abilities.
He had to bear the burden of letting his little girl down when she asked for a dress that was out of his price range. Neaveha’s 8th grade formal was coming up, and she had finally found her dream dress. She couldn’t wait to tell her dad about it, so she rushed over to him to ask if she could get it.
Unfortunately for the Smith family, the dress just wasn’t in the budget. Nevaeha’s dad hated to disappoint her, but he had to tell her that he didn’t have enough money to buy the dress. It must have been a real let down, but the girl carried on with a smile on her face.
Even though Nevaeha understood the family’s financial situation, her dad couldn’t stand to think that he couldn’t give his daughter the gifts of her dreams. He dedicated himself to working extra hard so that he could afford that perfect dress.
When he had saved up enough money, Nevaeha’s dad purchased the dress in secret. He brought it with him to work one day, and he kept it neat and clean in a dress bag. The girl had no idea that there would be a surprise waiting for her when she went to visit her dad at work.
As Nevaeha walked in to one of her dad’s jobs, she took a seat at a nearby table. Her dad then walked up to her with the dress bag in hand. The girl looked confused as her dad held the bag up – then the expression on her face completely changed.
Her dad slowly started to unzip the bag. Nevaeha couldn’t believe her eyes; it was her dream dress! Her face immediately lit up, and for a moment she stared at the camera in disbelief. Then the girl sprang into action and stood up to give her dad a big hug.
He wrapped his arms around her and slowly rocked back and forth. This man had THE BIGGEST smile on his face. It meant the world to him to be able to surprise his daughter with something she wanted so badly.
As the two stayed locked in a long embrace, it was obvious just how grateful Nevaeha was for her new dress. She knew it wasn’t easy for her dad to work multiple jobs, and she wanted to show him just how much she appreciated his effort.
As Nevaeha hugged her dad she started to cry. Her breathing became stifled, and she couldn’t help herself from saying. “Oh my God.” This was truly a sweet moment – Nevaeha and her dad were both so grateful to be in each other’s lives.
This dress meant so much to the girl because she knew exactly how hard her dad had to work to get it for her. She understood the value of the gesture, which measured far beyond the cost of the fabric.
Nevaeha headed to her dance and looked stunning in her dress. She is lucky to have a dad who would do so much for her, who would actually give the world just to see her smile.
