Raising a child is not easy.
Not only do you have to keep them alive and healthy, but you also need to make sure that you are creating a productive human that is going to benefit society in some way.
However, parenting can be just as rewarding as it is difficult if you do it the right way.
So when Mark Arrington of Florida heard his son ask him for a new Xbox, he knew he couldnโt just simply buy it for him.

In order to teach his son a lesson, he decided that he would take his 11-year-old son Markell over to his rental property where he had some work that needed to get done.
The property needed new hardwood flooring so Mark had Markell get right to work.

After a long and arduous day, Markell and his dad finished the floor, and Markell was exhausted.

But hey, it must have been worth it for Markell because Mark bought his son an Xbox shortly thereafter.
Once Markell wakes up from his nap, Iโm sure heโll fire that thing up straight away.

Helping his dad put in hardwood flooring isnโt the only job that Markell has done with him.
Mark regularly has his son help him out on projects that need to get done.
He told Bored Panda, โI make sure to be there for my kids in every way possible and make sure that they have all the essentials to be successful in life.โ
Some projects of note that Mark had Markell help him out with were repairing a fence and fixing an AC unit.

By teaching his son how to do these things, Markell is not only learning about the value of hard work, but also how to fix something when it is broken rather than just buying a new one to replace it.
Mark wrote on his Facebook page, โOne thing for sure, heโll know how to maintain his home, make money, and his wife will not have to worry about him not being handy around the house. Sheโll be like, โBabe, the AC ainโt working,โ and heโll be like, โDonโt worry about it, donโt worry about it, sweetheart, I got it.'โ
Since Mark is such a good father, he doesnโt only spend time doing work with his son.
He also enjoys playing with his son and the two of them like to build model cars together.

It seems like whether these two are working or playing, they are always building or fixing something together.
Mark decided to share these stories on his Facebook page and has been receiving plenty of support from parents around the world.
They praised his efforts and let him know that they were trying to do similar things with their kids.
In response to all of the Facebook support, Mark wrote this post:

Mark is an inspiration to all the parents out there who are trying to raise their kids the right way.
By teaching them the value of hard work, they will hopefully grow up to be positive and influential people in whatever community they end up living in.
Way to go, Mark!
