Some people have hidden talents – crafts they’ve studied in years past or just have a passion for. These are every day people with completely unexpected sets of skills. Watching these secret skills surface can make for something truly special.
Within the confines of a well-traveled resort, an inconspicuous man in what appears to be a football jersey reveals one of his hidden talents. His daughter by his side asks the room’s pianist if her father can perform vocals alongside the instrumentation. The results are absolutely gorgeous.
The performance takes place in what appears to be the lobby of the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Concierge at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Although it’s not exactly the Mormon Tabernacle, it’ll do just fine. Even though it’s not a concert hall, the room is quite ornate, featuring a beautifully-designed rug and illustrious, high ceilings.
The pianist and newfound opera singer start performing “Ave Maria,” the divine piece by romantic composer Franz Schubert. Originally, “Ave Maria” was written in English as a part of the poem The Lady of the Lake by Sir Walter Scott. In 1825, Schubert set out to create a musical prayer from the poem, featuring a German interpretation, according to Song Facts.
Our unlikely opera singer, Justin, concentrates and starts to perform with his hands folded across his chest. His eager daughter looks absolutely delighted.
Opera, although not a particularly popular art form these days, features some of the most breathtaking pieces of music ever.
Mozart has been hailed as a maestro of opera, writing some of the greatest pieces ever in The Marriage of Figaro, The Magic Flute, and Don Giovanni, many of which feature easily recognizable melodies, even in popular culture.
Justin brings opera to the common person. His football jersey, gym shorts, and tennis shoes add a stark contrast to the music. Within a matter of moments, he’s belting notes with absolute precision. A small crowd of onlookers forms across the way. His voice is clear and rich.
Over the course of two serene minutes, Justin lets us hear his wonderful vocal talents.
Justin’s voice proceeds, uninhibited. Soon enough, he puts the finishing touches on his performance, then the piano softly fades out. Justin modestly looks down at his loving daughter in light of his surprise.
The onlookers let out a well-deserved applause. Justin is modest, simply smiling and standing awkwardly as he basks in the cheers. His daughter is absolutely ecstatic. She’s the true mastermind behind all of this.
Sometimes even the most seemingly out of place people can have hidden skills waiting to see the light… And when they do, the results are sublime. Shout out to Justin’s daughter for pressuring him into singing.
