Not all teenagers get their very own car when they pass their driverโs test. Some have to beg to use the family car or scrimp and save until they can afford to buy one.
South Australian dad Jacob Strickling, who runs the YouTube channel Make Science Fun, decided he would reward his daughter with a brand new car after she passed her test.
Or at least thatโs what he told his daughter. However, he had something else up his sleeve. He wanted to make a surprise out of it so he blindfolded his daughter and led her outside.
โAre you excited?โ he asked her.
Something tells us his daughter is fully aware of his trickster ways because she tells him that she isnโt excited for the surprise.
He walks her outside and takes off her blindfold to find something shaped like a car under a tarp.
โYou should be,โ he tells her. โYouโre going to love this! Darling this is for you because youโve been such a good girl. Cuz I love you and mommy and daddy love you. We thought you needed your own car. What do you think it is?โ
She took a wild guess, โa Porche?โ she said.
โAre you ready gorgeous?โ he asked. โAre you ready for your car?
He then removes the tarp to reveal something that is definitely not a car. It was a structure shaped like a car made of bamboo shoots and duct tape.
Inside that structure was a battery operated mobility scooter complete with a large โP,โ for a provisional license, on the front and back plates.
His daughter erupts in laughter knowing her prediction was correct. Though it wasnโt the Porche that she hoped for she still hopped on the scooter and gave it a ride around.
โCan I go up the hill,โ she asks?
โYou can try,โ he tells her.
Though she wasnโt cruising around in the car of her dreams, she seemed to be having just as much fun riding around on that scooter and dad seemed pretty pleased with his work.
The video of this dadโs hilarious prank has gone viral on YouTube with more than 136,000 views.
